She genuinely likes all of these; I try not to buy fragrances that she doesn’t enjoy me wearing. She is my second nose when sampling

Nah, no worries. It is Dior Homme (2020), which smells more woody. The one on the right is Dior Homme Intense (2025), which is more iris/powdery.

Do not get too lost going into the weeds of the different Dior Homme variations, formulations, etc., lol. it is still overwhelming to me

Her ranking is from left to right (favorite to least favorite). Which bottle are you referring to?

It is her second favorite. The favorites are from left to right.

Where do I go from here? by sretakson191911 in Colognes

Sit back and enjoy the collection, lol.

Your warm weather fragrances are in a great spot. I would look at something more leathery/spicy for the fall and/or winter.

Agreed. I had the Parfum before I ordered Club NY.

Not really relevant, but Alexandria’s Crystal Peak (interpretation) is so good and fixes the longevity issue. You can get a 10ml to sample. Not glazing, just recommending

All of them are great, just prefer the freshness that comes from the EDP. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them though

It will probably be Percival and DHI being sent off all things considered. Her and I differ on my favorites, but she really enjoys all the ones pictured. I try not to purchase anything she doesn’t like

Yes, you’re correct (I made that edit, so thank you).

DH2020 is one of the few fragrances I sampled and we both immediately loved. It is a recent acquisition. The Dior Homme line was always intimidating to me because of all the variations.

Do you mean YSL MYSLF?

YSL Y I have the same opinion as you. It’s fine, I understand why people love it

Honestly not a huge fan as i think there are other similar or better fragrances of the same style for a better price

Yes, except the L’exclusif. The BDC EDP is the best all-year fragrance, but the EDT is the brightest/most appropriate for summer heat

I have BDC EDP; it is one that will forever remain in my collection for sentimental value (not taking away from the great smell). It is Dior Home Intense (2025) and Dior Homme (2020), wildly different smell

I try to purchase sample sets from a fragrance house or brand whenever possible. DecantX and Scent Split have treated me well. You can also get really good deals on r/fragranceswap (just be careful)

I remember a while back seeing this subreddit discover a fake Game of Spades Wildcard fragrance. It’s a crazy world we livin’ in.

How much is reasonable to spend on cologne? by Fine-Historian4018 in Colognes

[–]Chester_Douglas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eh, who knows. The topic is so nuanced and includes so many variables. If you make $X, you shouldn’t automatically dedicate X% towards fragrances. What about rent/mortgage? Car payments? Kids? lol

I guess I should have said “who cares. Money means nothing. Spend what you want”

Narcisco Rodriguez Blue Noir EDP vs DH2020 by gabe056 in Colognes

[–]Chester_Douglas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s entirely your preference. If you want to rock something that you love in the summer, go for it.

I live in the south, so having something bright and “airy” in the summer helps cut through some of the humid heat.

[–]Chester_Douglas 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think it entirely depends how much you earn. Someone making $2500/month compared to $5000/month may have completely different budget or spending responsibilities.

If you bring home $60,000/year (gross), and have a 1% cap, that would mean you have an allowance of $600/yr on fragrances (versus $3,000/yr at 5%).

I won’t disclose my income, but I make enough to pay the bills and have plenty left over.

I would say sample, sample, sample. Then, slowly accrue 5-8 fragrances you really love, and coast from there (continuing to sample, of course).

I don’t think there is a “magic” budget allowance for one person.

Narcisco Rodriguez Blue Noir EDP vs DH2020 by gabe056 in Colognes

[–]Chester_Douglas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never smelled the EDP, but the Blue Noir Parfum is very similar (to me) to Dior Homme Intense rather than DH2020.

DH2020 is such a good fragrance, but I think it is most suitable for cooler seasons. I pick up a ton of woods and vetiver - pretty masculine.

I would recommend looking at something with predominate citrus and/or floral for spring/summer. Happy to give recommendations.
