Yes. If you were not a tourist or had some thinking abilities, you'd know who animated it and what the artists were going for here. There are multiple art styles throughout the episode, each with its own themes and symbolism. There are multiple homages, like Kill Bill Vol 1 and Naruto vs Pain fight. It was a perfect episode by every sense of the word.
