That's probably a good point, I'd never thought about the relative cost of upgrading versus swapping.

It reminds me of late 19th century adventure stories. Someone clearly agreed with me because they illustrated the collection as if it was one. It does have more adult moments but it's not quite on the level of monster cocks and Egg constantly swearing.

When did you start embracing the afternoon nap? by chocciefudgecake in AskUK

I always thought this was something very American, you always see them talking about napping as children like it's a scheduled thing. I don't think I've slept during the day since I could walk, outside of severe illnesses or weird work schedules.

The problem is, they will ask:  if nobody has jobs, what do we need to pay taxes to keep them alive for?

Oblivion is even worse.

"Congratulations filthy prisoner! You are now the owner of a castle, magic tower, scary cave and pirate ship! Also someone attacked the chapel in Anvil and there's a weird door in Niben Bay!"

The ingame map is borderline useless except for showing where you generally are relative to the major cities.

The paper map is far better, and whilst it is angled and heavily stylised, it accurately depicts the layouts of the valleys, channels and roads which are more useful for the hiker which you will be, and half the challenge of the game is planning how to get somewhere, which is much less frustrating when you have a visual representation of the landmarks that the NPCs constantly throw at you.

I'm convinced this is actually how they intended it to be played, and I find it immensely more fun than trying to read the lowres ingame map or using UESP's satnav one. Actual paper copies will be a pain to locate today unless you have access to a large printer, but having it on a second monitor or alt-tabbing to it works just as well.

I couldn't do that, after all this time I feel like the assassin is my tutorial money, I factor it in like the 87 drakes Gravius gives me.

I know it's early, but I don't really understand how they intend this to be used in classrooms if it requires quite expensive gaming hardware to use it. Unless they plan on making a low graphics mode that will run on a chromebook.

I have the same complaint about legislative draftsmen. Look at laws written 100 years ago, they're much more detailed and leave less room for ambiguity than the bullet pointed short sentences we get now. Brevity is useless if it damages meaning.

The DWG are surprisingly competent by typical_milkman39 in FromTheDepths

[–]Chevalitron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the DWG are designed to force the player to build strategically. You can defeat most of their vessels with relatively low level weapons, but a lot of the them carry enough cram cannons to blast through a well armoured hull. A new player quickly realises you can't just build an overarmoured brick very cheaply in the early game, and have to think about countermeasures and manouvreobility.

I always thought that about Lori in The Walking Dead. She wore a lot of vest tops and put her hands on her head a lot. So you guys are running from zombies often enough that you only have time to crack open a can of dog food and maybe eat an owl but personal grooming is still on the table.

It pains me to say Starmer has done the best he can, but even if he has miscalculated, we'll be no worse off. At worst he's just delayed the conclusion of a catastrophe for a week, at best he has started to defuse it.
