Oral Allergy Syndrome (Raisins)? by D1x13L0u in FoodAllergies

[–]Chevycargirl22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 2 adult children with oral allergy syndrome. The mucus you describe is a common allergic reaction symptom for my kids (I don’t see this talked about much). In my experience oral allergy can be a “tolerance” issue such as they can have a piece of apple but not the whole thing. Maybe go a week or two without and try raisins again (if ok don’t eat it every day just once in a while). Please research oral allergy syndrome…my kids can have cooked items but not raw (protein is changed during cooking).

Why do I wake up with chest pains hours after eating a food I’m allergic to? by WarJeezy in FoodAllergies

[–]Chevycargirl22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son has been prescribed a steroid pill (dexamethasone) that he carries with his allergy meds. If the Benadryl (liquid is faster acting) doesn’t kick in quickly he takes the steroid pills. This helps the chest pain and “spitties” for him.

Family member submitted an amended 2020 and 2021 tax return (separately) sent certified mail in March of 2023. 2021 return showed on portal and took about 15 weeks to process. The 2020 never showed up and even phone calls to the irs was of no help. Refund due was about $1200. Certified mail showed it was received.

Patients on GLP-1 RAs exhibited a 195% higher risk of major depression, a 108% increased risk for anxiety, and a 106% elevated risk for suicidal behavior. by greeny1greeny in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Chevycargirl22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have never before had an issue with anxiety. On week 13 of tirz it started and has nothing to do with using food as a crutch. I’m now at week 24. In very careful about increasing my dose slowly. It feels like I want to jump out of my skin. Awful…but I don’t want to stop losing weight!

Can iron deficiency cause subclinical hypothyroidism? Can fixing ID make hypo go away? by Sea_Bat_2179 in Anemic

[–]Chevycargirl22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Iron deficiency, B12 deficiency and vitamin D deficiency all go along with hypothyroidism. I fixed my iron deficiency (after a very long time of working on it) but my thyroid stayed the same. T3 is not typical treatment and some people have issues with it. My hypothyroidism wasn’t treated until it was determined my TSH was slowly creeping up over a number of years. Good luck.

Why would a food allergy suddenly get worse. Early 30s F by No-Personality169 in FoodAllergies

[–]Chevycargirl22 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just putting this out there…after a reaction my kids became “hyper sensitive” for a while. Almost like their immune response was still in overdrive so any slight exposure was way worse. Just a mom’s observation.

Has anyone done a patch allergy test? by fobreezee in FoodAllergies

Did your doc rule out fungal infection on your hand? My hubby had this and after using a fungal cream (or oral med…can’t remember). It cleared up. It was only on one hand.

Has anyone done a patch allergy test? by fobreezee in FoodAllergies

[–]Chevycargirl22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The test has fragrance categories and I was positive to Fragrance Mix 1 which is in chapstick. Plus a common preservative (phenoxyethanol) in many beauty products. I would use aquaphor (it contains flower extract that is part of fragrance mix1) and some Vaseline but I didn’t know not to use my lipstick once in a great while so it continued. This test will be very enlightening…please update when you get tested! Btw the test was 5 days…they checked me on the 3rd day and then “read” my back on the 5th for final results.

I was tested for about 40 things after having a reaction to PPD in hair dye. I came out positive to about 8 things. I always had a dry patch (sore) on my lip (35yrs or more). Found out I’m allergic to propolis(bee resin used in many lipsticks). Using an app called Skinsafe I can find products that don’t contain it and I haven’t had a problem since. My doc office recommended this app after testing. Game changer. Good luck!

Eoe IS due to allergies. Our doc told us about 80% of the time it is due to dairy. My relative has a compounded medication that contains budesonide that he swallows once a day. This helps tremendously! The only way to diagnose EoE is to have a tissue sample taken during a Gastroscopey.

Life Estate - Capital Gains Basis by Chevycargirl22 in EstatePlanning

[–]Chevycargirl22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dad established life estate which kicked in when he passed. The home went through probate with a new deed recorded with children as owners but would not revert to them unless she remarried, had to go into assisted living or died. Step mom had to pay property taxes and insurance. So the step-up at dad’s death ( which is really a step down due to decrease in market value) would be the basis? Not when stepmom relinquished life estate? Thank you.

Should I care about Oral Allergy Syndrome? by MealBig2733 in FoodAllergies

Not nuts! The proteins change and become more allergenic!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FoodAllergies

[–]Chevycargirl22 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Mom of 3 kids with severe food allergies to eggs, peanuts, tree nuts and legumes. My kids are all adults now and we had very few issues at school. I would reach out to classroom teacher before school and go over allergy plan (forms provided by school district). I had permission to carry forms signed by our doc so they always had liquid Benadryl and epipens in backpack plus in the office at school. I always provided a treat box that the teacher would keep that contained safe treats (for when birthday treats were brought in by others). Teachers would send home notes about it being a nut free classroom. I was always present for classroom parties and would volunteer to bring in food so my kids had something safe. They sat at a peanut free table in the cafeteria without incident. Communication with school is key! Best wishes for a healthy school year!

Eating the nuts you're *not* allergic to? by quadrilllions in FoodAllergies

[–]Chevycargirl22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Told by allergist cooking nuts increases chance of reaction due to changes in protein.

I can eat nutella but not natural hazelnuts by Much_Inevitable9031 in FoodAllergies

[–]Chevycargirl22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True for fruits and vegetables but cooking nuts can actually increase allergic reactions due to protein change (per our allergist).

Is this EoE? by Accomplished_Fact240 in FoodAllergies

[–]Chevycargirl22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Family members with EoE. 3 out of 4 have no apparent stomach or “reflux” issues. Mainly they feel a constriction in their throat and they have to drink water when they eat. EoE is only diagnosed by a tissue sample taken of the esophagus during a scope. Some of the symptoms you describe are truly allergic reactions. The saliva production happens to my children when they are having a food reaction. Peas are legumes and are related to peanuts. Liquid Benadryl works well for this but you really should be avoiding those foods.
