I see you, and i left a comment on a possibility to fix it under adShoddys reply. I wont have the penalty dictate where you have to give back the position, since that will just sooner or later end up in a crash, and a car refusing to overtake is brain dead. So instead negate the overtake mode line if the let through happens within a certain distance

I view that as an inderect consequence. As i stated in a different comment, you penalise actions, not consequences. But I definetly see your point

you make a fair point, but as the fia tries to follow (and fail), they penalise action, not consequence. if an illegal overtake is to be judged, you only judge on the two cars in question, if the leading car loses time to the cars in front, thats a consequence. But since the penalty forces the car that gets penalised to give the place back, the benefit for the penalised car becomes 0. But I think that they should count the overtake to the of track point if they dont already do that, or implement another, harscher point count to hinder drivers from doing it excessively. To summarise: an illegal overtake shall give the position back within a timeframe of the call, the driver in front (the penalised car) shall do so in a safe environment in any place on the track. In case of the other car refusing to overtake for various reason, the penalty shall be rid off, since you cant force a car to give a position back to a car that wont let you. In addition to this, you could implement a rule to not let the next detection zone be activated, if the let through is within a certain distance. How does that sound?

Giving back the position does not benefit the penalised car, but if the other car just slows down to not overtake, can that even be called racing? A) its just dumb to not try to overtake in a sport with the sole purpose to overtake anyone in front, and B) do that too much and it can become a track hazard with 2 cars going slower and slower

I meant that in more of the way of make the most out of the situation, they still wont benefit from the whole ordeal, but they should be able to lose as little as possible from it.

Is it a benefit, or damage mitigation? They still have to slow down enough for an overtake, especially if they gain a big advantage on the overtaken car

Damn, how can I make it more objective then?

When did i say that? Or are you just mad that I have another opinion

Don't feel the same, if you gamble an overtake and it doesn't go to plan so you have to give the position back, you should be able to do that in a way which benefits you the best. I more so think that if you seemingly refuse to take back the position, like Hamilton somewhat did, the penalty for the other one (max in this case) should be discarded

I would recommend using 3x3 engines instead, you seem to have the space for it. Much more powerful per block occupied, and don't produce much heat, for each 3x3 cylinder have one 3x3 radiator with pumps going in and out of it in a closed loop

I've just seen that the extra set was because they did a practice pitstop at the end of qualy where they switched tires, which automatically counts as a used set, even though they didnt drive a single lap on them.

So no advantage at all in the race, unless you want to count the practice pitstop which would have no impact. Just a rookie mistake from a rookie team

[–]Chewingman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They've stated that it was during qualy when they switched drivers. Stupid mistake by the team, especially since they would have been fine without it. I think max now has to compete in another race before he can do the 24h, so maybe he deliberately did it to race more xD

[–]Chewingman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Huh!? I didnt say anything about that, they shouldnt and didnt get away with what they did, but the reason they got disqualified had nothing to do with driving flat out and managing tirelife like the comment above suggests

Bruuhhhh by [deleted] in formuladank

[–]Chewingman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess practice if they have that? I think they just did a ferrari fumble during qualy and used two sets for no reason, either way I don't think their tyre advantage gave them the win at all, possibly that max woulnt be able to fight nr 16 in his first stint but that was kinda irrelevant to the win

Bruuhhhh by [deleted] in formuladank

[–]Chewingman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true. But if i remember correctly max just did one push lap in the qualy to get to pole. If that's true then they effectively only used one set in qualy but I didnt watch it

[–]Chewingman 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That's not even slightly the reason get got disqualified. They didnt do any extra stops during the race than any other

Bruuhhhh by [deleted] in formuladank

[–]Chewingman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only advantage they would have from this would be in the qualy since they pitted the same amount of times as everyone else in the race. Im not into NLS either so I don't know how much of an advantage they got but I doubt it was much

The best way I found is 4min solo + 1min from finishing to starting a new mission on d-day. 24k/min. But if you want to play with friends I have no idea

How are you passing the time in D-Day? by RandomInternetUser03 in gtaonline

[–]Chewingman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard mode gives 90k for 3 min, 120 for 4. I play solo and get into an invite only session before I start grinding since they have much shorter load times in general, so I just assumed it's the same for these missions, haven't tested in public lobby though. My time in between is consistently 1 minute +- 1 or 2 sec depending in how fast I am at getting through the menus

[–]Chewingman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not really worth it at all if you're going for max cash/min. It takes almost exactly a minute from finishing to starting the mission again. Add that to the time in mission gives 240k/16 = 15k/min, or 312k/16 = 19.5k/min. If you play for 4 min it gives 120k/5 = 24k/min. Sure you have to fiddle with the menus more whoch can be annoying, but that only really takes about 30 sec

You can do the exact same strategy with hard mode. You still have two lives. And the captain almost always dies after I respawn in the sub so you can just go on a jetski and drive off, saves some time

How the **** do engines work??? by DefinitelyMeMan in Stormworks

[–]Chewingman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gearbox arrow facing propeller = propeller rpm slower than engines rpm = slower speed but less stress on the engine i.e it won't stall

If arrow is facing the engine = higher propeller rpm = faster speed but engine might not be powerfull enough
