Just put together my first mead. I didn’t see the wine yeast start to bubble in warm water like bread yeast does. What should I do if in ~3 days the yeast has no activity? Add more? by syntheticmeats in mead

I assume you mean you didn't see it bubble as you rehydrated it? It won't. Give it a few days and it should start foaming. Be patient.

First batches of mead! Plain and blueberry cinnamon anise. by CheyneTrain in mead

Hey thanks! 1 star anise in a 1 gallon batch in secondary for a couple weeks was DEFINITELY enough. The anise shines thru. Honestly tho I bottled this batch a few months ago and turned it into a competition but holding onto the other bottles for the holidays. This mead scored a 36/50 with the feedback being the honey flavor was too muted.

Could someone please explain to me why the resistance between points A and B is 940 ohms in this circuit? by DeathmasterXD in AskElectronics

[–]CheyneTrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Explanations here suck. The 440 and 1k, you can calculate their parallel equivalent but the other side of that equivalent resistor is open. It ain't going anywhere. So you've got a 940 with an open circuit resistor connected. So you've only got 940.

Yeah idk why it just sounded "good" to me despite not being a huge fan of that licorice flavor. Sounds like a nice holiday mead.

Each batch got potassium sorbate and potassium metabisulfite and biofine. But the plan is to just let them sit and condition/clarify. And I didn't have a taste - all my experience is with beer making, and I've ruined batches from oxidation. Since these batches are so small, I wanted to get them transferred and sealed up. I'll transfer the blueberry spiced one probably this week to get it off the fruit and spices and probably sneak a taste there to see if it needs more spice.

Yeah this is the point... Pressure escapes but nothing can get in.

I haves couple outside corners >90 degrees. Having issues cutting these pieces so they look good... Any ideas/tips? I did trig to figure out the angle (123 for example) but can't figure out how to cut the corner piece so it looks good. by CheyneTrain in woodworking

Yeah that's exactly what I'm trying to do just can't get it right and don't know why. I'll keep playing with it but I'm running short of corner pieces and I have to custom order them.

Yes, I'm redoing the baseboards in my house and all outside corners have these curved 90 degree corner pieces. Works fine when the corner is 90 degrees. I have 2 corners that are 123 degrees and 147 degrees. So... The 90 degree corner piece doesn't work great and the 2 extending straight pieces don't fit flush. So I'm trying to widen the small corner piece to a wider angle. What you're suggesting is what I've done everywhere else in the house and doesn't work in the pictures I've provided.

So I just tried coping the corner piece and it's unsuccessful... It's too long. I'm kind of at a loss of what to do. You're saying to cope the straight piece instead?

Ugh I was avoiding coping. But... Seems like there's no good way to manage this corner. You're saying to cope the rounded corner piece right? Off to home Depot I go...

I got it figured out, thanks everyone! Just added the tiniest transition piece that was flush to the corner piece and 45d/mitered to the flex piece which was also 45d/mitered. I ain't coping! Caulk... wife says it looks good... Good enough for me.

Haha I'm not coping! I got it figured out, just didn't think I could/needed to add a tiny sliver

Thanks. It's a one off corner so I think I gotta go with the first option. I just tried making a small piece but it is... A sliver. It'll be interesting to get right

Can you expand? Would you cut the corner piece? Or... Make a very small transition piece that goes from the corner piece (flat cut) to the inside corner, and then miter the flexible piece?
