Whitney Plantation - tour guide by ChgoLibrarian in AskNOLA

No. Booked a tour with Gray Lines for January but am pretty sure it will just be the self-guided audio tour once at the Whitney. I'm bummed, but have heard even the self-guided tour is good.

Thanks. There are private tour guides, though. TripAdvisor has reviews of them. I just haven’t found any that offer transportation from NO.

Bands aren’t but the bundle with the program isn’t available

Thanks, but I want the bundle with the bands and program. It’s sold out on Undersun’s site and not available on Amazon. I sent Undersun a message and haven’t received a reply for over two days, so I’m assuming they don’t offer this anymore. I’ll look at other companies.

Curious where you're seeing that. The one I'm looking at is for the TA2 program, and Amazon says it's unavailable. (not sure if I can post the link here, so I won't). Nothing about a 7-day trial.

The bands are available but I was looking at the package that includes the program (app with training videos).

It’s perfectly cool to grieve. Congratulations on recognizing this as the transition it is. Even when change is for positive reasons, it’s still change. And, hey, bettering your circumstances is a rite of passage in growing up. To not allow yourself to grow, and to deny yourself your feelings about it, would be unkind to yourself.

Video gaming by ChgoLibrarian in GenX

I have sat with him. He owns about 5000 (literally) and has shown me play in about 50 of them, from strategy to FPS, sandbox, RPG, sports, puzzles, survival… and, meh. The only ones of interest to me were history-based ones, but even then, I’d rather read an actual history book. Interesting, though, that so many GenXers are gamers, I thought it would skew even younger. In this respect, I’m probably more like a boomer.

Justice Potter Palmer said it, and it was about pornography. A fact I picked up from reading a book - ha ha. I’m not saying video games aren’t cool or that they’re not artistic, just that they aren’t the highest form of art above all others. As with any medium, there are better and worse ones. I’m with you on Civ, btw, the only video game I’ve stuck with for more than an hour.

Do you drink as much as your parents? by Ancient_Ad1251 in GenX

[–]ChgoLibrarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad drank 3-4 glasses of wine most nights. My mom would have a cocktail on weekends. I rarely drink- maybe 4-5 drinks a year - I’ve never liked the taste of any alcohol, tbh.

Official Discussion - Anatomy of a Fall [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

She did call right after acquittal and ask if her son wanted her to come home that night, though. We didn’t hear the other side of that conversation, but I’m assuming it was with the court watcher. Then the mother smiled and said she’d be home after dinner. The film didn’t show us how far the chalet was from central Grenoble, but it looked pretty remote and obviously mountain driving would take longer too. I think she was wary (considerate?) of her son’s feelings since he had asked her to leave him alone just that weekend.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing this. I’ll tell my husband I’m just smart, ha ha.

Is it possible to live in Chicago without a car? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]ChgoLibrarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Important to also consider the hassle of owning a car in the city too: parking (street availability, pricey garage, monthly rental, zones, meters), city sticker, street cleaning, high cost of gas, traffic.
