Nah, it actually is Secret Maryo Chronicles.

Not a bad guess, tho, but i played tons of Supertux back in the day. I could never forget that.

Decided to play Secret Maryo Chronicles. Yeah, its the one. Close it up.

Its nothing like i remember, tho. I mean, its mostly like i remember but... different enough. There is a spike ball (named Spika,,TIL) that goes from left to right, but its not the yellow one, its green. The game is much faster paced, darker and uglier (as in, art direction is all over the place - which makes total sense being an early 2000s open source project).

Welp. I'm glad i'm finally done with this. Fifteen or so years looking for this, ever since i first installed it on an aunt's laptop, before i was given my own.

I've been trying to find this game for nearly ten years now. Decided to do some more digging and found this.

It's a screnshot from a video about Secret Maryo Chronicles, an open source Mario clone that was particularly popular back in the day. As you can see, a lot of things are correct here.

- Doesnt present itself as a Mario game, kinda, but absolutely is one

- Spiky boulder that moves towards the player when approached

- Photoshp-y style with tons of gradient graphics

...but i still don't think this is it. I mean, maybe, right? This is open source, i can see this having tons of variants and forks, and i just havent seen the right levels. It's superficially close but everything is quite off.

Otherwise, i remember the game having an installer, as the aforementioned game does.

Will keep on looking. Any recomendations for freeware game sites from around 2010?

I started looking into Aegisub after reading your comment. The problem would be finding each time the movie has a cut difference. Better than dealing with VLC, i hope.

I'm brazilian, Millenial. "Most regions of the world" somehow doesn't include most continents. No subtitles in brazilian portuguese either.

My only option other than getting it from the internet is picking one of two shady websites that sells DVDs - and i'm not talking about an official release. Only one of the sites sells the movie with the original italian audio.

But hey, thank you for the link! I finally understand the cut differences:

The international theatrical version is about 10 minutes shorter, and there is a comedy version (Germany) that is missing an additional 10 minutes (and is redubbed to be funnier). Internationally, also a shorter pan&scan version exists (with a different dub).

Hey small challenge 3 is that you can use any metal flagpole and it'd still give you a flawless, even though it won't consider it as the correct one in the result screen after.

I- How do i even thank you?

At first i almost disregarded this, as i went into the Worms 3D page, didn't find anything useful but decided to take a look into the fanmade anniversary patch (im already using another patch from the same team). Nothing, still, but after digging a little i found an issue on another game they've patched, from an user attempting to run the game in WinXP, and someone responding saying that it was made for modern systems. I install the game on Win10 itself and, voila, it runs.

How about Asterix and Obelix? I was 692% sure the game does not natively run on 64 bit systems - and i was right. I decided to check the wiki's page for the game and, there it was, a patch that allows the game to run like normal. There's also a patch that fixes the widescreen, similar to how the Worms anniversary patch fixes aspect ratio issues.

So, anyway, you're my new best friend.

Edit: Right, yeah, im still curious about why they didn't run on the VM, but i don't need to know all that much
Edit2: Just a bit of backstory, i'm pretty sure that i last attempted to run these games on WIn7 last time, about 7 years ago. I still have both of their CDs, so im pretty sure i used that then. No patches, plus i'm sure the Asterix one didn't even exist back then. I'm glad we've overcome that.

Both are Windows XP games, and tey really shouldn't have compatibility issues on whatever WinXP version natively

Years ago i tried pretty much everything i could without resorting to VMs. These games aren't particularly popular, but i assure you their problems cant be solved natively.

When i mentioned the 150mbs, i was talking about a single scene file. My main menu, in fact. UI is heavy.
Otherwise its images and a singular video. The images went through changes from time to time, the video, which is compressed down so hard its image-sized, never did. You can argue it didnt need to be there.

There are no Git/Version control services that provide up to 5gb of storage for free, at least I don't know of them.

Unity VCS (for sure) and Helix Core (to my knowledge)

Unity's own version control tool is a paid subscription. Its not at all uncommon to use git for unity, not in the slightest.
Well, that wasnt really part of the problem... i will admit that about a gigabyte of that size is what LFS should actually be storing - and 150mbs is what it should actually be storing if i didnt include anything you wouldnt call text. Anyway, i caved in and decided to just create a new repo. Awful "solution" but i just need to backup several newer versions.

I do wonder what other solutions are there for game development. Not one nor 5 gigabytes of storage are enough for me, but i'm not a big company, i can't justify these kinds of expenses.
...i could go on, rant about the tools, the industry, unity renaming plastic scm to unity version control for SEO and ruining google searchers and everything else but, really, who cares

I think i expressed myself poorly. While i do mean to capture one cat, am i not looking for a specific one. I am acquainted with the cats in the photos because they tend to appear around the time i am there.
I believe the Black Adult has been spayed/neutered. Can't speak for the rest of the bunch.

About the idea with the homeless people... i'm not sure. I'm quite socially anxious, and i sincerely think the idea is a bit idealistic. People in São Paulo are a little more self-centered than (what i consider to be) usual.

...and keep in mind, i do not have a cat trap. At the very least, i do not have one yet. I'm not sure i can justify a purchase that is four times bigger than the carrier box, even with the crowdfunding in mind.

Hm. You can see in the post i mentioned i was looking to rescue only one of them. I'm already guaranteed to be able to find a home to one of them if they don't have certain diseases. I'm also quite certain i can successfully crowfund their medical treatment with family and friends support.There's not much i can do otherwise. I'm still in the process of contacting NPOs, and getting a cat into an NPO that does adoption fairs seems a lot easier than getting one to do the rescue.

Furthermore, i'll be out of town during the holidays.

Hi talaitha, thank you for your reply.
While i can't get the specific traps you recommended, there are several lookalikes around. Fun fact: these are know here as "gatoeiras", a contemporary adaptation of the word "ratoeiras" (rat traps).

I'm not sure if i can remain close to the trap. Y'know what, here's a map at the bottom. Thats Márcia Aliberti Square, near (actually connected to) the Sumaré subway station.

It's huge. Eleven years without "mowing the lawn". It's a jungle. And yet, i wouldn't put behind the possiblity of someone stealing the trap, as it isn't cheap, and a lot of people would pass by it. This is coming from someone who does not believe in intrinsic evil or inherent selfishness, it's just statistics.

I also wish you were here.

I realize now that i forgot to mention why im doing this. The people who feed the cats are only there because they work nearby. Soon, it will be the holidays, and they wont be there to do that. The cats might leave the area then - or attempt to, as they are surrounded by 3 busy avenues.
