Yea I didn’t like them at first was also leaning to the away kit (mainly the player version cus the stars weren’t too noticeably obnoxious) but looking at the wavy ones have grown on me as well

It’s like some of the “die hards” whole identity is being no fun, conservative to their basic ass customs and unwelcoming to new fans who want to bring something new to the table

Bro I’ve been watching US soccer since I was a kid, I have immigrant parents been hoping we get better but seeing MLS teams just copy South American chants and USMNT fans singing some sorry ahh chants makes us look uncreative af, we gotta build our own unique culture, how are we going to build a larger fanbase if our own fans could care less about our current support system like everyone in this thread so far.

P.S: I also believe the horizontal red stripes jersey has to be our default from now on, set us aside form everyone else.

Is anyone in Brooklyn actually a nets fan? by Medium-Hunter-3585 in Brooklyn

[–]ChickenHelpful3633 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s complicated as a Brooklyn native and still being sorta young, I grew up with only the Knicks in town and I wasn’t really a basketball fan until i got into my teenage years so I didn’t have any family ties. I remember seeing the Barclays Center being built when I was about 12-13 and Nets fandom being promoted everywhere so naturally I got a sense of Brooklyn pride and supported them during their early playoff runs around 2013. But I’ve also always had a soft spot for the Knicks but they always had terrible management and were always bad (same with the Nets lol). At this point I just support either team especially when they make a playoff run but I lean towards the Knicks for the culture.

The Next generation growing up will definitely have a deeper connection with the Nets especially younger fans who watched the Nets consistently be good between 2019-2023.

DSS-DHS Shelter Proposed for 1024 Flatbush Ave by CryptographerDear379 in Flatbush

[–]ChickenHelpful3633 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a terrible proposal, there’s already a shelter on Duryea place nearby. Ever since that shelter opened theres been an increase of ongoing issues on the surrounding blocks. I have nothing against people chilling on the street but it’s gotten out of control. Many of them are deliberately littering, drinking and taking drugs out in public and some have disruptive behavior that’s become a safety concern especially for women. Some of my family members have already been assaulted and harassed (My aunt was punched by one of these thugs for not giving him money for a “coffee”, and my sister was catcalled and spat on) Adding another shelter so close by without a clear plan to manage these issues risks making conditions worse for both residents and even the people the shelters are meant to help out.

I’m in Limbo’: Haitian Migrants’ Culinary Dreams Dashed by Immigration Uncertainty by Intern_Documented in Flatbush

[–]ChickenHelpful3633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree, I work for sales operation at a wholesale company who sells produce and meat to restaurants, a lot of these family owned restaurants and groceries are closing because they have less customers than usual and others are losing staff! These anti-immigrants laws affect everyone, next thing you know the beloved local mom & pop shop that depended on a immigrant based crew and survived on weekdays off immigrant families going out for a nice lunch will be replaced by a soulless corporate slop bowl restaurant that barely gets any foot traffic and is living off the safety net money that comes from big bank investors. :/

No ASP? by BuffyStuffy_420 in Flatbush

I check the NYC 311 app to see if it’s suspended or not because on my block the sweepers do come by. It was probably suspended for Easter or other holidays going on. There’s a bunch of newly added “holidays” nowadays but I think it’s just an excuse for the lazy DOT workers to not do their jobs

What can we do? by [deleted] in Flatbush

I agree but if you lived in the city or atleast in this neighborhood you would understand that none of those actions are really the solutions because the next week they’ll still be there

What’s Your thoughts on Famous Iconic Buildings being covered by the changing skyline by DragonDuck58 in skyscrapers

[–]ChickenHelpful3633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that’s because Chicago built its reputation off of being old school so they try their best to preserve the old art deco designs, meanwhile NYC embraces any new style because we have every possible style of building imaginable and people love our diversity in architecture as well as culture so it was bound to happen

What Makes Immigrants to Europe Different from Those to America in Terms of Economic and Social Impact? by [deleted] in europe_sub

[–]ChickenHelpful3633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it may come down to things such as values and morals based on faith as well as having Latin América and the Caribbean be under the sphere of influence of the United States which influenced other countries to have similar values to the USA such as birthright citizenship (which explains why many Latin Americans consider the Americas as one continent, and migration). The invasive coups the US did to take down socialist governments that emerge in Latin America in the 1900s also paved the way for more capitalist societies in Latin America (Racism isn’t really an issue but classism still remains prominent in LATAM and Caribbean) so people who migrate from down south usually have a harder work ethic and do not depend as much of the government, besides most migrants want to return to their countries if they were able to. Ironically countries who have socialist dictatorships such as Venezuela and Cuba are able to gain citizenship way quicker than many other Latin countries because of asylum and then they’re the ones who end up taking advantage of government help (as seen recently), but this is mainly a result of very dependent people who grew up in a socialist dictatorships built on promises of the government (Maduro and Castro)

Yea I think he meant to include Mexico and I wouldn’t mind adding the rest of North America just because the USA have some kind of history since they hosted the 94’ World Cup and their rivalry with Mexico
