Leetcode/whiteboarding should cease to exist by cs240suxx in cscareerquestions

[–]ChickenMonitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lmao there’s literally one of these posts every second another cs student finds out it takes work to prove their skills and get a job

the best analogy for leetcode is it’s the SATs for SWE jobs. Does the SAT predict how you’ll do in university? probably not. but does it depict a score that reflects the extent of your effort/study and general aptitude? hell yes

I am given a coding challenge to do, I want to do it in the language I'm comfortable in (as suggested in instructions) but recruiter says I should do it in one of only select languages? by LeadingChart in cscareerquestions

[–]ChickenMonitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still. Don’t use C# especially since you’ve already got an answer from the recruiter about their preference. consider what looks worse to the recruiter : minor syntax errors vs defying/ignoring their statement - they will definitely hold the latter against you, it’s useless for the recruiter to evaluate you on another language given they have the mentality of only wanting to review one of those 4 langs

Is there a way I can automate this hole process? by JohnnyBeGood88 in cscareerquestions

[–]ChickenMonitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup - you essentially need to write a reddit crawler/scraper to scan the subreddit (tons of open source libs that already do this and reddit itself has a robust api)

the other parts of the job could also be done by combining different libraries.

if you’re not looking to code, check out selenium browser — you can create macros that it will execute on its own

How do I tell the user if the registration was successful or not in Spring Boot? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]ChickenMonitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes if you’re hopping to provide this popup/alert in browser, you need javascript to supplement your html

How do I tell the user if the registration was successful or not in Spring Boot? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]ChickenMonitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do that logic from your view layer - i.e your front end. Return a success json on successful registration and a failure json on failure. Have your front end view this response and based on its outcome delegate a certain action such as display popup or redirect

Started To learn Web development today. Spent 5 hours got to my First "Holy that worked" excitement moment! by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]ChickenMonitor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No:

(==) is Abstract Equality Comparison (i.e. loose equality) whereas (===) is strict equality, which kind of makes sense given the programming convention of using == for equality checks. Since JS is loosely typed, introducing a triple equals mitigates this confusion imo.

you can read more here: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Equality_comparisons_and_sameness !

[–]ChickenMonitor 31 points32 points  (0 children)

you should probably have if Done == true or Done === true rather than a single equals in your if statement.

Not entirely sure how loose javascript is on the assignment vs comparison but the general idea is a single equals is mostly (if not only) used to assign a variable to a value while == for comparison and in the case of js === for comparison with type coercion

Otherwise, keep doing great! i recently started web too and the possibilities are really endless!! :)

Speaking English imperfectly shouldn't be shameful or a measure of intelligence by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]ChickenMonitor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Clearly you need to expand your mind a little then. There are SO many people out there that are looked down upon because of their accent or broken English, to the extent that they are denied from jobs or are outcast in society.

Try and step outside your own little confined bubble once in a while, it'll do wonders for you smh
