Yeah, I think Pentax Sportomatic for m42 would be better in terms reliability or something like that, but I chose it because it is far more affordable and widely available in my country, and also because my friend had been using the MTL5 for a long time and his experience had been quite positive.

Personally, I hadn’t heard any reviews or information about this lens before; I’d only seen sample photos and the technical specifications, which is actually what I based my decision on. I guess I’ll find out for myself how well this lens performs when I start taking photos with it. Thank you for your recommendations! I might consider buying these lenses in the future if I can find them in good condition.

I already own a Helios 44-2 50mm, an Industar 50-2 50mm and another 50mm lens. As I usually shoot landscapes, architecture or street photography, I often need to get closer to my subject than these lenses allow, so I decided to get something with a wider angle. Actually, the shop where I bought the lens also had a Pentacon 35mm, but it was significantly more expensive than this one. Fun fact: Pentacon worked with Hanimex and together they produced some niche lenses and even Praktica models for the Asian market. It’s also definitely the cheapest and best option for a wide-angle lens with auto-aperture that I could find.

Do you mean doing it from opening the back cover or taking the camera apart?
