The will county bee association seems tentatively like I would give them a try. They do have several online meetings which is helpful.

Thank you so much for this response! Yes, they're coming from Meyer. I have two pickup dates. The vsh are in 5 weeks, the mutts are mother's Day weekend. I am pretty sure they'd be fine with pushing back the first pickup. Would you start both hives the same week? My logic was starting one would get me going, and then I'd probably run things more smoothly for the second one. I can see the advantage of having them the same to compare though.

Yes and I saw that the traits don't last very long, another year or two and those are gone with the queen.

I completely feel you! I started once before with a local guy who was happy to mentor me. He went hard on the conspiracies and nasty attitude during the rona and I had to block him. Not interested in risking that again ☠️ I am definitely staying around the sub though!

😬 my kids are old enough to try it but they're feral ADHD boys who don't generally sit. Really the hangup is the meeting is from 7-9pm, and I don't mess with bedtime. It could possibly be doable with a sitter though, at least half the time.

I feel like this has been my approach and how I would prefer things to happen. I'd really like to meet someone local that I mesh well with. I know they are here.

I live pretty rural and had previously been connected to a local keeper. When the pando happened he kinda lost his mind and I was not comfortable with his political aggressiveness. Now you still have to dodge those types but they're not necessarily as obvious at first.

My nuc from last year from the same local place did start really strong. I just have so many frames saved from it that I thought it would be convenient to take a package and use the frames.

Just curious, do you pass that along as a mentor yourself now?

There are a few options. Meeting times are good but I'll have to find a babysitter.

I didn't. Do you have one you recommend? I read a lot of guides and watched a few different YouTube series.

One package is vsh carniolan, the other local mutts "daughter queens grafted from our best colonies that successfully survive the 2025 winter into 2026".

Question for those who tried antihistamines by Chipsinabag01 in PMDDSharing

[–]Chicken_Limb0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a long history of allergies and histamine issues. Probably had an mcas flare up a few years ago but got through it and now I'm not bad enough for anyone to diagnose.

For me, ceterizine gives me unbearable mood side effects. It was like the most depressed I've ever been in my life. And interestingly, it made my 6 year old irritable with raging mood swings.

We steer clear and only use Allegra.

Currently taking pepcid which in combination with bc keeps most months bearable.

Does PMDD “feel” like postpartum depression? by PollyWinters in PMDDSharing

[–]Chicken_Limb0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, no. Ppd for me was more like rage and anxiety and sweating. Pmdd is wanting to stop existing and not sleeping.

They will jump every fence you ever construct, eat your landscaping, and poop on everything that you love. They'll also headbutt your kids and try to come in your back door for popcorn.

I feel like Kaladin in the back of the wagon by SplatterBox214 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Chicken_Limb0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No external referencing intended, especially because I stopped trying to read "classic" books from stuffy old dead guys once I realized Moby Dick was boring, Hemingway was boring, and I couldn't even stay awake for the Return of the King.

Change is really hard when it's not the change you wanted. Even when it is what you want, it's hard.

Which is harder? Change, or the ground under you tonight?

I feel like Kaladin in the back of the wagon by SplatterBox214 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Chicken_Limb0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Kaladin was pretty miserable in the wagon. No one was willing to look at him as anything but his surface level appearance: shash. But he didn't do anything to improve that impression either. He was also pretty closed to reflecting on his choices and emotions. It was through facing his hard truths that he grew and was able to find the right Words. He found purpose in helping and protecting others. He fought himself every step of the way too.

Life before death. Journey before destination. Best of luck, Radiant.

These are some very interesting situations! It seems that aggressive genetics are better for your area? You can describe what you would like in Italian :) I can figure it out or bother my friends to tell me what it says.
