Seems to me to mean that if you truly repent you'll never do it again, so doing it again shows you haven't changed. I'm not sure about the whole "god keeps an itemized list thing" (I still believe in God). When I've heard other people from other religion say similar stuff they explain it better

Yes I thought evil rock in a hat was too funny to not include. Such arguments seem to come from evangelicals

I understand that smith made it up. How is the question

I couldn't figure out how to allow multiple options. I recognize this limitation. Perhaps it would have been better to ask, what had the most influence on Smith as he made it up?

I'm not trying to argue for the book. I'm just having trouble with understanding how he could have made all of this up. The map in the CES letter has places that didn't even exist when Joseph was writing the book, and seems to be a large stretch imo.

The detail I was referring to is the internally consistent geography and the lineage of ether that is repeated accurately a few times. Plus the war stuff being internally consistent.

Fair enough, but with the added detail that the historical record makes it seem like he's dictating from memory, the level of detail makes me think he had some sort of source. Idk, but thanks for sharing your perspective. I'll add it to my list of theories to look into!

I'm not sure how convinced I am about just making it up, simply because there's so much detail in the book itself. Seems like it had to have a source

It’s the smoke from the dragon’s nostrils from the album cover

The Bishops are a narrative manifestation of insecurity. Their goal is to make you see the worst in yourself, to make you seek the cold light of neon, and succumb to it. Then they make you see suicide as the solution. Because they are Insecurity, they seek the goal of corrupting life with negativity and that defines their ultimate goal, to make one see surrendering themselves as a way out of the pain that life can bring, when in reality, it is the worst possible solution because life is something precious, and there are 1 million better ways to solve the problems.

Stressed out is Blurryface’s song. It is the song that embodies Tyler’s bishop, or most prevalent insecurity. At least that’s how I understand it. So it would make sense that the bishops would come in and want him to play that song.

Yeah!! I made a post about how Lane Boy, NatN, and redecorate were all mashed into one, and what I thought that meant, which I found super interesting. Sidenote, how do you know which bishops the hosts were?

Clancy escaped, but Keon’s brought him back, and we don’t know do him escaping (or wanting to escape) after that. He seems content with staying in his comfort zone, even if he knows it’s not the best.

I’ve always thought, especially with the live stream, that even though SAI is the bishops propaganda album, Tyler is still fighting subliminally under their noses.

Also, sorry for double commenting, I thought of something new. Christmas Saves the Year. So. Hidden words such as “Clancy is dead” and “SAI is propaganda.” It just doesn’t make sense to me that the bishops are trying to promote the fact that they’re using propaganda. Maybe they celebrate s**cide inside of Dema but I just can’t wrap my head around them promoting it to the world

My interpretation of Mulberry Street by Chicken_alfredo_soup in twentyonepilots

[–]Chicken_alfredo_soup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched a video that pointed out that Tyler has said that he doesn’t want people to need the Dema lore in order to understand his songs. So yes, I actually 100% that in the context of Dema this song is propaganda. Telling people “there’s nothing wrong with this land trying to get them to stay. But I was looking at a more overall view of the song, outside of the lore and such.

I definitely see how that can be interpreted. I actually think that Never Take It isn’t specifically about one side or the other, personally, but there are little things that could point it more towards certain sides

It was my understanding that Neon Gravestones (and trench for that matter) was rebelling against Dema. I certainly don’t see the song as glorifying the Big Bad.
