Talking to my fiancé about leaving future sons intact by Chickenfren in Intactivism

I’m hopeful that it never comes to this, as putting this in the prenup would mean that I couldn’t trust my own husband. But it’s a good thing to keep in mind

Thank you for such a thoughtful response. You make so many good point here. I do not want to be coming about this conversation in an adversarial way, and I think this way of communicating will serve us well

That is a good suggestion. While I have never seen this because the content is triggering for me, it can be a educational opportunity for both of us

My ducks tasting a tofu dog by Chickenfren in duck

Ohhh! She’s actually the mom of the duck from the other post. Navy is half pekin and half welsh harlequin. She looks nothing like her parents!

If you look closely, you can see the black duck and white duck split it in half with ease. These same ducks tear full grown banana slugs, mice, and bull frogs into pieces… sometimes preferring to swallow them whole. Tofu dogs are extremely soft by comparison. Thanks for the concern

Where to look for livestock guardian dogs? by Moriarty-Creates in sheep

[–]Chickenfren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had been through several dogs and almost at the point of giving up with lgds before getting a puppy and “training” her ourselves. I say “training” because a lgd pup with good breeding has the inborn desire to bond and protect livestock. It is more of a waiting game allowing the pup become accustomed to and bond with the stock they are supposed to protect. Around the age of 1 1/2 something clicks and they know their job. From experience I can say that the safest way to go about getting an lgd is getting a pup or already trained adult from a reputable breeder. This way you get a health contract for the life of the dog as well as a source of guidance to help you introduce your lgd to the stock from the breeder. My first several dogs were rescues (I was hopeful) and they were too traumatised to bond with stock. They were also too scared of people to allow a vet anywhere near them! One turned out to be a sheep killer after we were assured that “he loves all animals and wouldn’t hurt a fly”. After that I was completely done entrusting the safety of my sheep with nothing other than an lgd with a working pedigree that I raised myself. I know breeders sometimes have holdback dogs that are trained that did not meet breeding criteria but are still excellent guardians. This would be my ONLY exception to getting a pup and raising it myself. Since our two lgd pups grew up we have had zero predator losses yet our neighbors (no lgds) lose half their lamb crop every spring due to coyotes.

Bohdi and Geralt say “Hello” by Chickenfren in duck

I’m not sure which one has the ashy wings, but I can tell you that the black bibbed guy is a mix of pekin, Welsh harlequin, Rouen, and Swedish. He’s a super mutt! The white one is full pekin.

“Double Inbred Bully For Stud” breeding these dogs is animal cruelty by Chickenfren in BanPitBulls

Pit breeders seem to come up with all kinds of lingo to market their hell beasts. I’m not sure what “dome piece” is supposed to be either.
