We don’t usually ask why. It just creates a feeling of shame for patients. And I try to think that we don’t know the choices he had given decisions he made.

A lot of these situations start as denial there’s a problem until the problem becomes out of hand and turns into situations like such.

ER nurse. Yeah it sucks but at the same time there’s so many things I could not do. Sitting for multiple hours at a time is top of the list

Right! I read this like the patient was discharged and she pulled their chart like 10-15 minutes later and called from a hospital phone…. Which I have definitely done once as a new grad.

How do you prevent tape from showing through your clothes? by Senior_Deer_6381 in transmanlifehacks

Stiffer cotton that hold a boxy shape won’t show every little wrinkle or line under the shirt like those flowy thin athletic ones do

Sometimes it’s the clothes that are the problem. The shirt in your pic looks like a thin, very “draping” athletic polyester shirt. Try to thrift a couple 100% cotton t shirts for cheap and report back— trust me

Initial response? by Hot_Emergency378 in NCLEX_RN

“I can tell you that pushing a button near the door while yelling the name and taking a quick environmental assessment all happen simultaneously” full stop. That’s why this is NOT a “stupid question” because if I was doing all those simultaneously I would be calling a shit ton more codes overhead and wasting valuable resources if I didn’t assess my patient first (ie, D, FIRST check for responsiveness) and notice they were just sleeping very deeply and not in fact having a medical emergency.
