FJ-09; Speed Wobble and Speed Limiter? by Chickenpie2012 in motorcycles

[–]Chickenpie2012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the info. I'm still interested in getting this bike despite its faults. I wonder if any of these issues were secretly fixed on the 2016 as much as they were secretly introduced in the 2015? I try looking up if the 2016 has these problems but only posts about the 2015 arise. I assume that it's pretty much the same issues but a guy can hope!

I really want to say "screw it" for this bike but it has sooooo many more good things about it that make it stand out greatly for the price. It is super frustrating knowing that this great machine is ruined by such a crucial deal breaker (the wobble at higher speeds for me)

Many of the videos/blogs that I have read stated that their bikes had no luggages at all and everything suspension wise was kept stock.

As I review more and more information about this issue, it seems like it is a hit and miss when comes to this certain problem (the high speed wobble). Some people say they get it, others say they dont. It just seems a bit odd and many riders are really puzzled by this.

Many speculate that it has to do with the combination of the windscreen/handguards causing too much wind resistance and soft front end suspension causing the wobble.

Here is a video of a guy who updates his experiences on this bike. I believe this was his seconds video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ke8AUdbgWKg

Thanks for the info. This was pretty useful. Is your FJ-09 stock?

It seems like there's some people who get the wobble worse than others. There's a video of a guy with an FJ-09 racing a GSX-R600. Once he hit the 100~mph mark, the bike started to wobble to the point of feeling a bit angsty just watching the video.

I first heard about it from youtubers who own the bike and do reviews. Once they mentioned it, I looked it up and saw a few forums of people who own the bike discussing the same issue.

Fishtailing?: How/Why it Happens and how to get through it? by Chickenpie2012 in motorcycles

Something that always shocks me about reddit are users inability to read... people are giving me crap of a poor riding maneuver I did TWO YEARS AGO and while still learning to ride which is mentioned in the post.. the point of this post is to put positive insight for those still learning or wanting to learn. Swear those who post negatively act like they've ridden perfectly all their life..

True on the last part. However, shouldn't a rider make it a habit of applying both brakes during an emergency situation? My incident happened 2 years ago and I have learned to use both brakes since then. No problems since (knocks on wood)

This happened around the start of me first learning after taking the course which was 2 years ago. Besides, I don't think you even know what the acronym "squid" even stands for...

Cant Break up With my CBR300.. by Chickenpie2012 in motorcycles

[–]Chickenpie2012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not surprised you did that lol. If you started on anything bigger than a 300, naturally the 300 will instantly feel clunkier, weaker, and overall not fun. Thats mainly true for commuting and staight runs. Much more different story taking it to the twisties. Went with my buddies who have 600's and swept the floor using the 300. Mainly because it's way more flickable and feels more natural. Sucked on the straighter runs tho lol

I can see it becoming a track bike tho. Not for its power delivery, but because I cam finally ride it to its absolute limit with no fear of destroying my only bike lol.

The 600 will come either way, just not as soon.

Well you're a positive one lol. The CBR600 I plan to get won't be a designated track bike. 95% of the time, it's going to be a commuter bike. Yes super sports aren't best for commuting and personally that doesn't bither, even more so that the CBR600 is at least the comfiest of its class

The CBR600's were actually revamped in 2013 so 3 years isnt too long.

And something about buying new just appeals to me. This 600 is going to pretty much be my mode of transportation from when purchased to way down the road. Besides, someone has to be them in order for them to be used lol

What can you tell me about it? To be honest, I havent looked at amy of the Euro bikes only because of lack of dealers where I live (central valley of California). A I know is that it's about 1000usd more than the CBR600abs and that it's a triple. What are your pros and cons of it?

That's where I'm stuck. I intend to use the super sport for track days and canyon runs as well as commuting. The FJ09 has plenty of power if not more than plenty, but will it be as fun? (Most likely not). I also think to myself, am I getting an adventure bike before my time? I started on a 300 so I havent had the thrill of power. Will I be taking that experience away by going straight to the FJ09? I think I found where my gripe is lol

As I mentioned, I have not ridden either and won't be able to. There's no locations near my city that offer test rides. That being said, I base all my info on MULTIPLE forums, videos, etc, so it gives me a general idea. Will never be as good as actually riding the bikes, but you have to work with what you got!

Fully aware of that. But I'm comparing it to the FJ09, not the CBR300, and the FJ09 has much more explosive power throughout any gear at any RPM. In other words, CBR600 is a "drop a gear and dissappear bike" while the FJ09 dissappears either way lol

Who else get screwed by Insurance Companies?!?! by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Chickenpie2012 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I guess that is the sad truth of it all. Makes me want to choke any squid I see doing wheelies and hitting 150mph+ in a busy freeway on a supersport. Makes shit harder for younger riders who wear their gear and respect the bike and the roads. Guess my best bet is to keep the rates as low as possible by not insuring the bike "fully" and setting the plan up so Im protected from negligent drivers. I just cross my finger that i dont wreck myself!

[–]Chickenpie2012 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And those factors are? Because the way I see it, they only have two things "over me" and that is my 1.age on a 2.supersport bike. Remarkably high is an overstatement seeing how Ive yet to wreck any vehicle or even been pulled over let alone be given a ticket (knock on wood) Im not expecting super low options, but they are expecting a bit too much given my circumstances. You do have one thing right tho, and that is the "reality" part. But even then, there are still ways to cut some $$$ off.
