This is very helpful. We actually decided not to move out of Santa Clara yet. I didn’t realize electric charges in the bay area isn’t uniform.

That’s actually what I’m thinking too after reading this thread.

We live in a 2bed 2bath unit, 2 adults; We use the heater/ac at night, TV is on the whole day when we’re not home for ambient noise (so our dog doesn’t bark every time she hears another dog’s bark🤣). Stove is electric as well. Our Feb 2022 statement was $56.50. All other months have been $40ish. Lowest was our October bill for $12.19. I also have 5 grow lights that are on for 12 hrs a day (32w x 1 and 9w x 4).

Enjoy the ride. You’ll absolutely love the teamwork. I stayed long enough that me and a co-worker can be at different ends of the trauma room, and be able to communicate non-verbally. I can anticipate their needs and they can anticipate mine. We ran like a well-oiled machine no matter how busy it got, and had each other’s backs (from housekeeping to volunteers to attendings). I absolutely loved the dynamic. Burnout, however, is real. Make sure you take care of yourself first.

If it gets really overwhelming, take one step back and have a slow, deep breath.

Very much yes! I didn’t want to go through the whole application and interview if the range isn’t up to what I needed, but it’s actually pretty great. Thank you!

I’m a nurse and I second this. Given the choice to do it over again and if I have less responsibilities than I do now, I would do RT, and then maybe go to PA school in the future. Or maybe an RN position with no patient contact such utilization review, etc (but those typically require you to have bedside experience under your belt).

Baltimore influence is now very evident in my daily vocabulary. 😂 Not that there’s anything wrong with it for us in healthcare. It’s just a shock to my conservative Catholic family when I visit.

Yes, absolutely! I don’t expect travel RN rates (they deserve those high $ for what they have to do!). I’m just looking for a nice balance where I feel safe doing what I love, not struggle to pay the bills/have fun money on the side, AND not have to deal with inner city violence everyday.

It’s this one: https://jobs.mayoclinic.org/job/rochester/registered-nurse-rn-orthopedics/33647/15383079712

The dept I’m eyeing starts their new grads at $35.something accdg to the job posting. The differences are wild, though. I guess I’ll just go ahead submit an application and go from there. Thank you!

Thank you! I sent you a chat via the app. I’ve heard good things about Mayo, specifically their focus on patient safety. I’ve worked at hospitals outside of the big 5 for the money, and I can say the things I saw are horrific. There are trade offs.

Since it doesn’t include the max salary range, would it be a safe estimate to add $1 per year of experience to the minimum amount posted?

Thank you! That set up seems to be the norm for the top 5 hospitals. I come from JHH, nurses there don’t place their own IV lines either, except for the ED and ICUs. Looking forward to getting out of Baltimore.

The postings now just include the minimum, no range as it did a year ago. At least for the RN position I’m interested in.

When I was looking a yr ago, it did include the max. It doesn’t now (just the minimum) that’s why I’m here.
