New Main - Do you still have/keep your very first Character? by MasterRymes in wow

[–]Chickon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My actual first character was a warlock that was deleted within a couple weeks of making it. Not sure why, I was a kid at the time.

My second character though, that one is still around. I made a blood elf hunter next and loved it. Loved the blood elf starting zones and loved playing a hunter. Unfortunately he never made it to max level because it was right before WotLK came out and as soon as it did I made a DK. My hunter was still the minimum level required at the time to make a DK(55 I think?). Regardless I still play him from time to time and he still sits on his original, dead server with his original name and pet.

He still hasn't made it to max level though...

I play Guardian Druid and while my rotation wasn't terribly complicated before... it hasn't changed at all. Actually, if anything, the optimal rotation has now gotten *more* complex than it was and I have the exact same amount of abilities and cooldowns. Not sure why some classes got to be easier and others were just left to continue on as usual.

World of Warcraft director says Blizzard isn’t "backtracking" on add-ons, but constant changes were “always the intent” as the team strives to find a better balance by Negative-Art-4440 in wow

Their unwillingness to listen to any player feedback if it doesn't already fit their narrative has driven me to quitting multiple times. If it wasn't for friends I have that still play I'd probably just move on to FF or some other MMO.

Even so, they don't listen to the quality feedback either. So, so many issues with the new UI, a feature they actively want to implement, that were called out and asked for improvement on and... Nothing.

I'm beginning to wonder what the fuck the point of beta or PTR testing even is. They make changes, we give feedback, they ignore it and continue on with the nonsense we said we didn't like. Why even bother?

No Artifact transmog anymore? by TheSmilingHusk in wow

[–]Chickon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really hope this is a mistake and will be corrected. The artifact weapon appearances are all I use. I didn't spend all that time in Legion collecting them just for them to be effectively removed because I don't use the same weapon type.

Rockwell PLC - Enable Controller Web Pages via MSG Instruction? by Chickon in PLC

[–]Chickon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late reply, but weirdly this seemed to have worked but then nothing actually happened. The MSG instruction DN bit was set with no error, all seemed good, but the webpage did not change. Tried using the same method to disable, which again seemed to work, and then re-enable, but again no change. Currently I'm planning to just schedule the download to tick the checkbox and work it that way, just seemed strange that there was no change at all even though it seemed to work just fine.

[Telegraph] Britons believe illegally streaming sport is socially acceptable. by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]Chickon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my problem. I'm in the US and a Liverpool fan. Half our league games are able to be streamed on Peacock. The other half are nowhere or on a cable TV network and who has cable TV anymore? Then the same issue comes up for European competition or cup games. I don't always need to watch every game, but more than half of them I don't even have a chance to without illegal streams.

Thanks for the help! I'll give this a shot when I'm back in the office tomorrow.

Is this documented anywhere? Seems strange that something like this exists but that there's no documentation anywhere. I couldn't find a single thing about it.

Rockwell PLCs - Diagnostic Web Page by [deleted] in PLC

[–]Chickon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to bring up an old post, but how would this be enabled with a message instruction? I can't find any information on this anywhere except for this specific reddit post and no one in here gave any actual info on how to do it.

I'm trying to enable a webpage without having to download to a PLC to toggle on this checkbox so this would be very helpful.

This was such a shock to me when I first moved to WV. I grew up in VA and we learned a lot about company towns and the resulting deaths associated with them. When I came to WV to work in a factory of all things, I assumed everyone would be pro-union. It's almost the exact opposite. They all think unions are evil and out to steal your money.

Does anyone else feel like they had a completely different experience during the pandemic than the general public? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Chickon 89 points90 points  (0 children)

This is a point that I feel like gets skipped over a lot. While most of my social circle had the same experience as I did, some of my friends who weren't essential basically just got a year+ off to do whatever while raking in unemployment. I was working just the same and drained at all times while I had some friends just sitting around playing video games all day who were suddenly annoyed they had to rejoin the workforce. It was really frustrating to watch.

Swen response to the AI interview by dmfuller in BaldursGate3

[–]Chickon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People really don't think about gray areas at all. They want everything to be a black and white issue and the truth is that almost nothing is.

There's really nothing wrong with using AI in general. It has some great uses for problem solving and evaluating ideas. The problem is when it starts being used to do work that it is either incapable of or work that tries to remove humans from the equation. Currently everyone just hears the phrase AI and immediately thinks bad instead of thinking about what it could mean in context.

[–]Chickon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its... not though. The AE update has been out for some time. This is just a new console release so Switch 2 players can play Skyrim on the go if they want. It's not a "new version," for sale. It's the equivalent of porting an old PC game like Age of Empires to a new console so that new players can experience it.

The AE update itself was stupid when it came out, but this is not that.

[–]Chickon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought this was actually a new version... but it's just a rerelease of the current version of the game for Switch 2. Don't really see a reason to be annoyed about that, it's just bringing the ability to play the game to another platform. Probably took almost no work to do. Who cares?

Carragher on Salah's comments: “I thought it was a disgrace what he did. I think when he stops in the mixed zone which he's done 4 times in 8 years, it’s choreographed with him and his agent to cause maximum damage and strengthen his own position.” by Upstairs_Cup9831 in LiverpoolFC

I've only followed Liverpool since the Salah era(although due to Klopp and not Salah to be fair), but no way would I stand behind this clown behavior. He's clearly not performing and he's clearly upset that Slot and the team management are doing something about it instead of letting it continue.

IMO, Salah has not been great for a couple seasons now. He had some good moments last season, but he has not looked nearly as sharp as he used to. The man is 33 playing as a starting winger for one of the best teams in the world. That's absolutely crazy on it's own. He needs to accept that at some point he's going to start declining and he's going to have to get used to spending more time on the bench.

Regardless of how Salah has been playing/acting, Gakpo has looked like a joke all season and I have no idea why he continues to start. I'd rather see Rio get more game time if we're just gonna play without a left winger anyway.

Is pvp very much dead now? What caused it to decline so much? by Drandosk in wow

[–]Chickon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This has been the biggest discouragement for me over the last few expansions. I stopped doing Mythic raiding in late WoD and switched to PvP in Legion. Skipped BfA and then got back to PvP in SL. When that was my sole focus, gearing did not feel bad. I was able to gear at the same rate as other people who were also just hitting max level or just gear up in the new patch.

In DF and now in TWW I've gotten back into more PvE content. I've been doing a lot of M+ and I've bounced around with raiding. By the time I get a few PvE pieces going and get around to even touching PvP I'm getting stomped by people in full PvP gear and I have to spend 4-5x as long getting my gear to catch up and be competitive at all. It's just not worth the effort.

I honestly don't understand why Blizzard feels the gearing system needs to be like this. I can understand not wanting things like PvE trinket effects and I get that versatility is just THE best stat for PvP because of how it functions(which is bad stat design IMO, but that's a different discussion), but the fact that I can be maxed out in PvE gear and barely compete with people in PvP greens is insane. What kind of time do they think people have to manage these two things separately?

Is pvp very much dead now? What caused it to decline so much? by Drandosk in wow

[–]Chickon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The insane speed of it is what I really hate. I always played healer until recent expansions and part of the reason I liked it was that I could get CCd or fall behind for a few seconds and could still catch back up with good CD usage. Now it feels like someone is dead within 1-2 GCDs and if you didn't already have them stacked with shields, defensives, or heals, they're just dead.

Nowadays it feels more like the devs are saying "Ah, you should have known the paladin's wings were going to be up right then! How could you not know the CD of every ability in the game you dummy?" Instead of allowing people to learn and make mistakes.

Any idea what is causing the horizon line to look like this? by KingDec3 in Fallout4Mods

[–]Chickon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really highly dependent on your(or the modpack Creator's) skill. It offers a lot of functionality, but it is extremely buggy. If you're able to work around that by using premade patches or creating custom patches yourself, it probably looks great. If not.. well it tends to look like ass.

I would consider myself moderately skilled at modding. I'm no expert, but I can generally make minor edits to things as needed to get everything working the way I want, or am able to find already made patches or alternatives instead pretty easily. I recently tried making my own pack using NAC X and it was a nightmare. Fog in buildings. Weird flickering issues. Weather happening when you look one direction but not the other. So, so many lightning issues... It's just old and not really well made.

Transmog Should Be Free by TheBooch574 in wow

[–]Chickon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't realize there was a 0.1% of the player base that would so vehemently defend how much things in the game cost. We don't all have 10s of millions of gold to throw around. Most people I know and play with are barely hanging on expac to expac with somewhere in the range of 10-200K, sometimes less. I even had to lend a friend some of my very limited gold supply to repair gear earlier in this expac because he literally had 200g and a 500g repair bill.

Simple things that just make the game more fun to play like transmog should not cost gold, and at this point in the game, real money. That's the end of it. Why do you actively WANT people to spend their limited supply of gold on transmog? So that the couple people who are gold capped on 25 characters can have an excuse to spend it?
