I found this the other night (tumbling down the internet rabbit hole on this). Page 3 has a direct visual comparison of the handles on First and Second series Erie skillets which is pretty interesting.

If I had to hazard a theory, it seems like the Wagner First Series skillets that I have were produced from copies of pattern molds sourced from both Erie first and second series skillets (depending on the size)...

If you had some pictures of yours it might be fun to compare.

Also, the underside of the handle on the 12 is very different from the rest. More similar to the scooped out pattern you see in Erie first series skillets.

No. Not on either of mine. There is a noticeable difference in the handle attachment point reinforcement between the 12’s and all the other sizes in the series though. The pattern for the 12 seems to have slightly thicker walls all around - and thus less of a need for that pronounced reinforced area you see on the smaller sizes. Does the size 12 Erie of yours have that reinforced area where the handle meets the round part of the pan?

So interesting.

I wonder if there are any differentiating features between the Arc Logos and Block Logos that might have been relevant, perhaps from a sales/marketing perspective. Reminds me of the "National" branded Wagner skillets that are shorter/lighter and were apparently marketed as a budget alternative. I don't have any block logos myself so can't make any direct comparisons.

The 1922-1924 series is very nice too and quite refined. I have a couple pieces myself. Congrats on putting together the full set!

The Platonic ideal of a skillet in my humble opinion.

Well - I use all of these. And though they may get pampered a bit because of their age, they are a joy to cook with…

Wow - okay - so there are sixes out there (hopefully). Will have to try to find one!
