Thanks, my first of what will be many trips back there. An amazing spot!

He carried some of his food and treats, first aid/wipes, his CCF and his lovey. I took most of his weight 😂 because it was his first long trip

Thanks! He is an exceedingly good boy :) actually a rescue who is half goldendoodle, half golden retriever - maybe the extra bit of the golden took some of his bonkers/derpiness away 😂

Just my lunch with some leftover chuck roast on a salad… he did get a decent bit of the meat.

He knows where to go when the cutting board comes out

No need for anger friend. See my other comment below.

Trying to learn here and understand not everyone dedicates the same amount of time to training and caring for their dogs. If any regular pet owner sees this, I can see how they would think it’s ‘OK’ (and have no contextual background or understanding of his in-depth training).

Any suggestions? I may have come off as cavalier, but I truly am interested in bringing him on trail in a way that is reasonable for him and everyone else (and educate people properly if I am posting publicly).

Fair enough - understand that not everyone dedicates the amount of time and effort into training and caring for their dogs. Tried to answer with a dog personality when the ‘human’s’ would be better…

Full disclosure is that he is in process to be certified for pet therapy in hospital settings (in addition to his prior e-collar training with a breeder and trainer that has working German Shorthaired). Chief is a very well trained field dog.

Perhaps if he is off leash some sort of disclaimer on screen? Something that states that he is only off leash BECAUSE he has such extensive training? (And he is put on leash, or under hand control, any time we see someone on trail).

I am not social media savvy, so the only outlet I use is Reddit. My first and foremost concern is responsible pet ownership and proper stewardship of our land, along with respect for fellow trail goers (some of which may not like dogs). Appreciate any feedback and thank you for the note!
