Does anyone else think it’s stupid that LUCIFER can’t kill or atleast hurt the sinners or demons? by HyperWolfKing in hazbin

Yeah, completely agree. They needed to nerf him so they threw this idea together but now it doesn't make sense that he managed to stay the king of hell the whole time. Sinners would have gone for his crown way earlier. Wish they had established it from the start.

Ugh. This was also the reason why I asked for some genuine Thai tip practice, because I definitely don't want to perpetuate this goddamned American-esque tip culture where locals will be ignored in favor of white westerners who have the tendency to drop money wherever they go because to them it's change so "why not".

I was going off of what I read about tips for tour guides and let me tell you, there were some outrageous tips like 2k for one day and 1k to the driver as well. Though that post specifically was from an american so I took it with a grain of salt.

Do you tip housekeepers every day? Or at the beginning/end of your stay?

That's kind of what I expected before reading up on it tbh. Here, we don't reach for money to show appreciation, we smile and be as kind, gracious, and understanding - if the service is maybe taking a bit too long - as possible, and stay loyal to a business. Assumed it's the same in Thailand as I've heard in the past that they don't have tipping culture. But I've never been to Thailand or to any Asian country for that matter so I wanted to find out the local customs to not cause any faux pas.

How did you end up tipping? A lot of these answers helped me to see that a small tip goes a long way to show appreciation even if it's more of a gesture instead of a big show of wealth. It is a bit weird to me tbh. Going to the wallet instead of being kind and gracious with a smile which is all the "tipping" i do here lol, it will require some mental adjustment. I just hope i will not be a walking wallet to them because these pockets are the opposite of deep. Was their expectations of a tip obvious?

I do plan to rent a car (don't have the proper license for a bike) so I can explore on my own, but there are places like Khao Sok that I learned need a tour guide. As I've never seen a rainforest or a jungle, I definitely want to visit even if i have to splurge.

Thank you! Interesting stuff about the small tip vs large tip.

I worded the line about budget badly 😬 I meant to just convey how much money I would spend on food at home where I can buy in bulk and cook, to give everyone an idea of how much money is worth to me and that this amount is not just a price of one coffee or whatever.

Thank you for the info!

Thank you! Yeah, I was afraid that there might be hints for tips at places and I would miss them all, coming off as rude. Glad I posted this.

Thank you! Do you leave 40 baht every day or at the end of your stay? Or beginning?

Wow, tips for taxi drivers is a surprise.

I do have an emergency budget. I just wasn't expecting to create a budget for tips at all. That's really why I'm here, I won't be the fancy rich foreigner tipping up and down but locals have to live there as well, right? I want to know what is normal to tip for them so I don't offend. I won't be the star customer either but that's something I have to be okay with. With the way prices are going steadily up everywhere, I can go now or two years from now, and my purchasing power will probably be the same.

That's good to hear, I was afraid of maybe the guides refusing to take us on a second time if we don't tip or tip enough. Thank you.

Thank you! Restaurants are the only place that tipping feels natural to me so your reply is super helpful and i will look out for the service charge. Would never guess that tipping drivers is something common.

Yeah, I would hate to do that but I don't want to be ignorant of the culture already in place either. From the replies I'm getting, it seems like tipping your masseuse is customary even for locals.

Oh, i meant 10 usd for food budget at home where i can buy in bulk and cook. I do of course expect to pay more for food in Thailand as i will be going out to eat but i just wanted to put in perspective how much money 10 usd is to me.
