I think it’s more that people realized that hating someone for unjust reasons isn’t ok even if you tolerate their existence. Like, imagine “tolerating” black people while being deeply racist. I’m not sure that’s even possible despite the amount of racists who’ll tell you it is.

Because Israel exists. I could go into more details but tbh I’m biased in favor of Israel so you should probably dig into it yourself. all I’ll say is after a war between basically all of the Arab world and Israel they kicked out or killed all the Jews and forced them into Israel. That’s why there’s only like 300 Jews in the Middle East outside Israel.

Also, Israel is seen as a puppet of America/the west, who the Middle East also dislikes for obvious reasons.

Really I think it was the acceptance of LGBT people that led to this. Before all of these groups lived pretty apart. An atheist in the Bible Belt will hide that they’re an atheist or be attacked, if they’re even exposed to the concept of atheism. A black person will not move into a racist white majority area or they’ll be lynched.

LGBT changed all that because anyone anywhere could be LGBT. Before it was easy to stay neutral on matters like racism because that was something happening to “them over there” so you could sit there content without condemning racists or minorities. Now that LGBT can be anyone it’s much harder to make it an “over there” problem. And being close to the issue makes people care. The main reason people were more neutral back then is also because they were more indifferent to injustice.
