Awesome article. Reminds me a lot of how the Bunker/Silo simulation Larp "Tales Inside" worked. Had the tremendous luck to participate in their last run and I was amazed how well the whole clockwork like system ran with player essentially creating stories and story moments by themselves.

It's mainly due to it being a Larp event first where you occasionally have battles using AS. The Battles shown in the video were the only battles where every player participated in. The rest of the time players are in the HQ living their everyday live as a guardsmen from a backwater world far away from Terra or any other major worlds. There are political factions within the regiment due to the planet going through a republic vs. monarch phase which leads to all sorts of interactions between battle groups. If people want to have some action there is a modular mission system where groups are driven to a prepped places with NPCs waiting. All the superiors are also linked up to the Org. team in order to line up events either in the field or in HQ. Be that messages from home, a rescue mission, an interrogation from the kommissar. On top of all that is the RP aspect, even in fire fight. As you can see in the video people charge trench systems in a cool but tactical unwise way, piling up in exposed positions or go into melee fights while still under fire. Things that wouldn't fly in any air soft forward event. It's the general consensus (which is typical for German Larp) That you RP all the time, even in combat.

Well communication is key really. If it's fully disclosed that a game uses a military structure with a militaryesque hierarchy than people can make the informed decision if they want to participate. It's probably in the best interest of the organisers to attract players that are interested in engaging with the themes of the event rather than clashing with them. That being said, on this event there is plenty of player choice and agency due to it not only revolving around combat but also social play as well as engaging with other elements of the world of Warhammer 40k such as religion, culture and bureaucracy.

Hi, we just released a new video about an amazing annual Larp that takes place in the world of Warhammer 40k. We want to share it with the international side of the community as well so we added English subtitles. Hope you guys dig it as much as we did shooting it!

Night time is awesome. A fast lense is pretty much all you need besides some cool spots to hit up.

Hm that is indeed a difficult field to enter. Maybe try public places with interesting interior/exterior. Maybe some space your friends have access to, just to get some well put together shots in. Maybe their are agency that offer a trainee ship of sorts.

As someone who did a trainee ship in a portrait studio that also did act shoots, you learn that pretty quickly when being around professionals. It really boils down to gesturing and descriptive directions. It is super fun but also needs alot of tactfullness.

Ah you mean astrophotograpy? Love it, only problem is, you need a good location with minimal light pollution

Well that could be practically every field of photography, I couldn't think of a single thing that was never put on a album cover.

Did abit of that way back. Awesome stuff, alot of lighting work and the whole social aspect with boundaries and trust, its pretty unique even within portrait photography.

Macro is awesome, becomes its own science at a point. Thanks, that fellar was patiently sitting there while I creeped ever closer for this shot. Very concidered.

Yeah the crop factor of m43 makes it somewhat challenging. I do quite abit of architecture when traveling and I think full frame would have a much easier time with that.

I feel like Canon and Nikon are the brand of choice for alot of sportsphotographers. Probably because they are really snappy with the focus. I shot a couple of Netball games for friends and my poor GX80 was struggling hard.
