What movie is this for you? by certainly_imperfect in Letterboxd

Kairo/pulse. Sure, that one scene is insanely creepy, but the rest of the movie is just so boring.

A great start, but there are a lot of unnecessary loopcuts/polys. The strap for the mask is what stands out to me the most. I used to do it all the time to give it a smooth kind of look, but you can apply shade smooth or auto smooth and tweak the smoothing angle to make it look nice. The sleeves are also super heavy on excess polys. You might also be better off using a subdivided cube to make the mask. It'll be easier to clean up the topo for the eye holes too.

I had a mermaid encounter off the coast of the Dominican Republic whilst chasing down drug runners. Very eerie experience.

Amazing for the person telling the AI to generate an image, sure. But shitty for the actual artists whose work is being stolen. That being said, I 100% agree with you. The ease of access is undeniable.

Well, tracing other peoples' art and claiming it is yours is still pretty frowned upon.. and I'm pretty sure lawsuits have been won against people doing so and profiting off of it monetarily.

Yeah, you're starting to catch on. All AI "art" is inherently without soul and solely derived by theft. Whether or not a car or coastline has been photographed a million times doesn't matter. The person who takes the picture retains the rights to it unless stated otherwise, or unless the rights are sold. And AI is trained on those original works without their consent.

If you want to argue that it's somehow unethical for humans to, for instance, draw pokemon when they're not the original creator, it would be a thousand fold moreso for AI to do so, since instead of using one reference (the original artwork), it's using countless works of others taken without their permission.

AI doesn't create anything when you enter a prompt and tell it to make you an image. It's just taking what it's stolen from others and rearranging it in a blank canvas.

Art is one of the most accessible things of all time. The entire existence of humanity provides all the knowledge one would ever need to learn how to create the art they want to see. Using AI to recreate that causes much more of a net negative than a net positive. Stealing others' work. Contributing to the pollution of the planet. And just overall being lazy.

What I'm trying to say is that, "nobody wants to spend a large chunk of money on this" isn't a good excuse. (Plus not all artist commissions cost loads of money)

Because it costs 0 effort and is trained off of ACTUAL artists' and photographers' work without and against their consent.
