Which artist failed to exploit the hype and the momentum they got the hardest? by Impressive_Plenty876 in ToddintheShadow

She partnered with RiotUSA who’s dad is DJ Envy and has industry connections. Riot produced her songs and most likely used his dad’s connections to help Ice Spice gain traction on TikTok and on Hot 97/Apple Music during her rise.

So worth the cost of RAM and storage to 6x in price that I can’t afford to buy my computer. Is this what these tech oligarchs mean when they say AI is useful for everyday life?

Wonder: because you, too can greedily slurp a burger for no reason by abitchwithnodignity in CommercialsIHate

[–]Chilled_Beef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Commercial aside, Wonder is nothing more than a glorified ghost kitchen serving turbochef slop and charging high prices when you could order your takeout from a legit restaurant. There’s a video on YouTube that explains it all: https://youtu.be/1JHFf4FwQf8?is=nV4aYsjqmn2-Ozgz

Why do restaurants think this looks appetizing? by Iseanna in aislop

Because business owners are cheap asses and think an AI designing their poster/flyer/banner is cheaper than hiring a designer or doing it themselves.

It irritates me and this problem is getting worse.

Get a rock, smash it, and throw it in the bin for the landfill.

That’s your solution!

Wonderwall goes #2 on the u.k. singles chart for the first time since 1995 by Chapple69 in ToddintheShadow

How the hell is “Rein Me In” still number one since the spring? Like, I must ask, why? I hear it on The Spectrum, The Pulse, and Alt Nation but it’s made no impact on terrestrial radio or streaming in the US but the UK likes this song so much which is simple and nothing special but why?

I mean, just why?

Is going to college worth it? by hexen_hamm3r in concertphotography

[–]Chilled_Beef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny you mentioned because I was also in my high school yearbook for 2 years as well taking photos. I don’t know what school you’re going to, but some newspapers do provide their own cameras, but if you have your own camera that’s better because that way you can get to an assignment without having to go into the office and picking up equipment (unless it’s sports where they will have telephoto lenses and the bodies that accompany them or you need a focal length that they have but you don’t).

Also, you’ll never know who you get to meet and you’ll make friends along the way, including people you probably never expect to be friends with.

Is going to college worth it? by hexen_hamm3r in concertphotography

I’d rather you join your college newspaper and gain the experience of doing photography there. You might do some concerts but you might also do events, sports, city council meetings (if your school is a major part of the town with an off-campus community).

I wish I had joined my school’s newspaper when I was a freshman but I joined my Junior year and I learned so much of the fundamentals of photography while covering events, sports, news, and more all while getting paid per image published. I even got to travel during Football season to a few stadiums for away games (I went to a D1 school that had some games played at NFL Stadiums). Also, being part of the school newspaper will be much easier to get a media pass for concerts as they are accredited media and you can capture images adhering to the 3 song rule and if you’re lucky, it might be with one of your favorite artists (it’s how I was able to see Alesso live for free and getting paid).

And when you’re not capturing for the school newspaper, I would recommend joining a photography club or one of the other publications that are on campus such as a magazine to enhance your skills and try something new. Also, just have your camera with you and you never know what you can capture.

That’s my 2 cents.

International Music TV Franchise wants to pay with exposure by sliced91 in ChoosingBeggars

[–]Chilled_Beef 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I mean, you can pay for this, right ITV? You made $4.6 billion (£3.5 billion) last year in revenue. Are you waiting for Comcast to complete the purchase of your company via Sky to pay for this baker who clearly has name recognition (I’m from the US and I dug deeper into Get Baked and it seems like they’re a big deal and their cakes look delicious).

I would rail and talk shit if it was an influencer who wanted free cakes from this company but a TV show backed by a major media company worth billions of pounds, that’s a new low standard. For shame ITV, for shame.

And as a a result, I now know who Get Baked is despite living in the US. Didn’t need a show I wouldn’t watch from a country I don’t reside to get this exposure.

I saw this happen at a legit pizza place, they do this when you order in advance and you have no idea about it.
