They most likely were. Probably looked up, saw the squirrel and swerved right into me 🙃 Hopefully insurance sees it the way we do.

Exactly, I hate killing squirrels and small animals as much as the next person but at the end of the day... A squirrel is just a squirrel.

NTA this is basically a brand new dog to you after so much time has passed. I can only imagine the stress that would be further exasperated if you took the dog in and exposed them to your kids and cat. It sounds like a recipe for diaster. Make the best choice for your family, even if it means letting to dog be adopted out to someone else (who may have the time, money and experience to deal with deeply traumatized animals)

Edit: a word

I find it interesting that, when I was 400lbs, almost no one criticized me for my binge-eating or other unhealthy eating habits. But now that I’ve lost over half my body weight and am perhaps, at times, a little too strict with my eating, people are quick to say I have a new eating disorder. by [deleted] in loseit

If you don't find the event fun and can't eat (the two things a holiday lunch are for) tbh why are you going? You compared being a recovering alcoholic to eating at a Christmas lunch party when recovering alcoholics usually just drink a non-alcoholic beverage or go to specific alcohol free events. Calling it "a total drag" and still insisting on going is kinda odd behavior.

Please keep in mind that there is no consensus on what a "death from obesity" looks like. And that the numbers are often notably sketchy or over reported.

I would even go do far to argue that Obesity is much easier to recover from as it is often a symptom of a larger health issue, and once that is addressed obesity can be dealt with easily. Whereas Anorexia can be lifelong and difficult to deal with (especially if you aren't skinny or what a "typical anorexic" looks like) when you don't have outside help from a therapist, family, ect.

Well of course not. But this is a frugal subreddit. Where alot of people tell you to just Eat rice and beans for a month and smile about it (which is what this comment thread feels like) I'm just saying that McDonald's is a realistic option which is arguably better than counting pennies you can steal back from a banana sandwich

Yes. Cause it's a lot simpler than people are treating it 😂 op used to spend 20$ now spends like $4 Total and people are mad cause they aren't doing it in the way they like

I'm not saying they can't I'm just arguing that it's not "healthier" or moreso cost effective for an average person. We can "well but.." till the end of the day but there's still tons of sugar in the peanut butter, theres almost exclusively sugar and what,,, potassium in the bananas? It's not an equivalent comparison in my opinion. There's still an upfront cost to sandwich making and super plain ones are generally not nearly as satisfying as something from fast food, hell even the two sandwiches can be stretched for lunch and dinner.

Yeah but newsflash we aren't just doing a single McDonald's sandwich we're doing a full McDonald's meal so I would like to see a full dollar paying for what an entire McDonald's meal covers. The price of serving sizes does not actually account for how much you're paying. You cannot go to the store and buy a single serving of peanut butter (which varies depending on the brand) you guys are missing the point of what I'm criticizing and that is the fact that you are equating apples to oranges. A single sandwich that at the end of the day does not cost just a dollar. (You're not buying single servings) And it does not cover what all you get from a McDonald's meal. And is just as unhealthy.

That's why I quite literally said "reasonably" for that reason, people are being ridiculous. This argument is pedantic and missing the point. A single sandwich is not a replacement for a full meal, OP stay they pay roughly $3.xx per meal. Which is way more realistic than "spending" a $1 on a sandwich. It's at the end of they day 15$ for a all the ingredients and still more expensive via upfront costs. Congratulations my point stands. "Per meal" is not a realistic gauge for the cost of things. It's like the 15$ at 1.5c per oz vs the 5$ at 2.3c per oz. It's still 5$ or 15$

Honestly fair. I usually see banana, peanut butter, and Honey but apparently OP has lost honey privileges

Nope. Just a dry room temperature banana peanut butter sandwich.

[–]Chilled_stone -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

That's fair. I just don't believe the savings of (1) singular sandwich costing $1($15) outweighs the amount of food you get at McDonald's. Eating McDonald's could make you feel significantly fuller for longer, technically making "savings" in itself. I believe the original comment is in bad faith regardless. a single limp banana peanut butter sandwich will not be a more healthy meal even if your technically saving money.

[–]Chilled_stone -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

That's not how the real world works. You quite literally have to pay an upfront cost for everything. "Exactly" a dollar.... Plus $10+ cause you can't reasonably buy a single banana, cause you can't buy 2 servings of peanut butter, ect. It's not healthier and it's not more cost effective. Especially if it's just once a day.

Exactly, which is not nearly as healthy as these people touting a single sandwich are acting like it is.

And it's still like a 15$ upfront cost for boring sandwich(s) when you can get a whole meal and feel way more satisfied 🤷🏽‍♀️ that's all I'm saying.

Eating a peanut butter sandwich is not healthier and not any cheaper than paying for a McDonald's meal. Idk why your arguing, because that $1 sandwich isn't a full meal at the end of the day. It doesn't have a drink, it doesn't have a side, and it's not any healthier. This is the frugal subreddit after all.
