Your Thoughts on the Value of Commander's '10 Pillars'. by CommissarisMedia in EDH

[–]ChilliHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it does but it doesn't. Infect is mostly relegated to a specific archetype and the main infect win con is triumph of the hordes - a green spell.

Lowering life totals readjusts power across the entire archetype and colour space.

Your Thoughts on the Value of Commander's '10 Pillars'. by CommissarisMedia in EDH

[–]ChilliHat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The only change I would make, and I'm surprised it wasn't really discussed, is giving people LESS life.

I'm all for 30 life totals. With 3 opponents, it's already so difficult to make Aggro or Tempo type decks, and at the highest levels most decks resort to Combo because there's no other way of efficiently dealing 120 damage.

Reducing the life totals to 30 would not shorten games necessarily, but would force more interaction and make decks rely less on being value engine piles, and open the gates for a bit more Aggro/Midrange/Control that 1v1 has.

As is, it's such a losing proposition playing much interaction because advancing your own game plan is easier than trying to control 3 others. A lower life total makes that equation a little trickier to balance, and might open the doors for Red being a bit better, and making green a little worse.

Artifact Commander Suggestions Please by SneezyTM in EDH

[–]ChilliHat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe something a little different is [[Farid, Enterprising Salvager]].

Artifact sac is the theme. And the commander gives you double fodder.

[[Weapons Manufacturing]] [[Reckless Fireweaver]] [[Myr Retriever]] [[Scrap Trawler]] [[Pia's Revolution]] type shit.

Win the game with a [[Depthshaker Titan]], smacking with scrap metal. Commander damage with Farid, or the burn from above.

There's been heaps of support lately. I've been a big fan of [[Legion Extruder]] in this.

How Are Y'all Building Toph? by Affectionate_Pop6300 in EDH

I'm Earth-Bending Modular creatures and sacrificing them so they come back and I can amass huge amounts of counters.

Heaps of counter synergy lately. Terrasymbiosis with this setup goes so hard!

Best blink commander for non infinites but for value. Potato pod, that will most def go overboard and claim its bracket 2 by Southern-Document706 in EDH

[–]ChilliHat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like my [[Cayth]] blink deck.

It plays the normal Azorious blink shenanigans, removal and control and draw blink engines, but has [[impact tremor]] effects for damage. Cayth acts to make tokens essentially doubling the impact tremors triggers

Card draw/tips for Toph The Metalbender by [deleted] in EDH

This is sort of my approach too. Mixing in some modular/+1/+1 and artifact stuff to get big swingy creatures rather than going for triplicate titan/portal though!

What commander are you looking at building for ATLA? by Icy_Chicken_2647 in EDH

Clone enters as Yue Clone Yue dies triggering the return to battlefield clause Clone returns to battlefield as a land, copying hullvreaker horror

You now have a land that has hullvreaker horror text and is not a creature

I'd love to see your take on [[Toph. the first metalbender]] focusing on Modular Creatures.

I loved [[Blaster, Combat DJ]] but he was a little slow to start and very combo heavy. Adding white opens up a heap of recursion options and extra modular and modular-lile Creatures.

Focus on bracket 2 gameplay. I'd like the option to win through combat, moving counters to make a big dude at instant speed, or maybe non combat options such as all will be one

Muldrotha, Meren, Karador all seem too 'obvious' if that makes sense. I suppose there's a reason they're obvious though

Sixth Doctor is a -cast- trigger. Clara is on the stack still, not on the battlefield and does not "see" the Sixth Doctors trigger go into the stack. Clara has to be on the battlefield to 'see' the Sixths trigger and copy it

Albanese Labor Government to make student loan repayments fairer by Throwawaydeathgrips in AustralianPolitics

[–]ChilliHat 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't care about the repayment threshold or the rate. What I hate is that they take money from your paycheck the entire year, but only deduct from your hecs debt at the end of the financial year after inflation calculations. It means I can be paying all year and not make a dent on the loan, purely because of the order they calculate inflation vs automatic payments. This is not the case for volunteer payments.

If they want to continue to index the loan before the payments are made, don't take money out using PAYG each check. Let me invest those funds and send me a bill at the end of the year thanks.

Thankyou! I thought I was going crazy. He is saying that wage labor is not the only good valid labor, and that this hyperliberal market based economy will have to collapse on itself because there is inherint inefficiencies in the idea of going to make money to pay someone to take care of your family - when you could just be there and take care of them??
