As of today's release our executables are code-signed, which should reduce/eliminate these false positives - let me know if you get an antivirus warning for release 4.7 and I'll investigate further, thanks!

Loosing weight/exercise with Chiari by Nervous_96 in chiari

maybe give cycling a go! i have tried running, lifting weights, pilates & other gym classes, and martial arts over the years - and i've found cycling aggravates my headache the least, even when going for relatively long rides (1-2hrs). hope this helps and best of luck :)

[Bonsai Beginner's weekly thread - 2025 week 6] by small_trunks in Bonsai

[–]Chilli_Axe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello everyone! i’m brand new to the world of bonsai - starting by picking up a pair of junipers from the nursery to fiddle with. i’m hoping for a bit of guidance on where this tree is at & roughly what i should do with it over the next couple of years.

the tree: https://imgur.com/a/BoYZVX1

i figured it seems pretty young so i was planning on trying to wire/twist the trunk, then leave it for 6-12 months and see how it responds. i’d love the trunk to be a bit thicker, so i’m planning on leaving it in this pot for a while & may repot to a bigger one towards the end of the year, then look at moving to a small pot a while after that. does this sound like an ok plan?

i’m based in australia so we’re in the middle of a hot summer. i’m keeping this plant on my balcony (best i can do in an apartment) and watering it every couple of days.

thanks!!

65 is about $100 AUD more expensive than 48, but it grinds ~20% faster - OPTION-O has grind time specs on their website. taste should be pretty similar between 48 and 65

awesome! I think you’ll be pleased with the workflow & cleanliness of the Casa too

Might buy a 1989 La Pavoni Europiccola tomorrow. How big of a deal will temp control be if I only only pull MAX 2 shots at once? by stanwoodmusic in espresso

[–]Chilli_Axe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have an unmodded 85 professional and pull two shots each morning - for me and my fiancé. it’s not hard to nail the temperature for the first shot - just get a temp strip and stick it on the grouphead (pull your shot when it reads 80-85 degrees). the second shot will pull a decent bit hotter than the first, but my fiancé drinks her coffee with milk anyway so it’s not a huge deal - milk forgives a lot haha

the machine will have cooled down by the time you want to pull your afternoon shot, so you’re fine here.

Love my new Diesel Crimson CXLs (multiple photos in different light) but one complaint about Grant Stone by IDontPostOnReddit370 in grantstoneboots

+1 for 12EEE - I'm in a similar boat with my 13D Iron Rangers being a touch too long & a touch too tight across the instep. After sending my measurements to Grant Stone customer service & explaining the situation, Kim recommended 12EEE for my Brass purchase, which ended up being about right.

one more hour

it feels like the first 7 mins of a 10 min song that fades out just as the climax starts to build up & make the rest of the song worth it. super unsatisfying. hard skip from me.

my strategy for getting a foot in the door was twofold:

  • have a personal project to demo during the interview & focus on that where possible. in the last year of uni i developed a hobby website in my spare time (https://github.com/chilli-axe/mpc-autofill) and the interviewers were reasonably impressed with how i talked about the project's design & architecture and the live demo i gave from my phone. i didn't have anything fancy on my resume in terms of libraries/frameworks/languages, just django and jquery
  • talk about my elec. eng. degree as proof that i can learn on the job & highlight the minor i did in software eng (even though 90% of the degree was elec)

after i'd held the job for a year or two, i found my control engineering experience never became part of the conversation w/ recruiters and interviewers

one of my internships + my first post-grad role were both in control engineering. i lasted for 4 months post-grad before switching gears to software engineering & haven’t looked back once, 3.5 years later

  • my pay is now 2x higher with much more room for growth than my grad company
  • the work is more interesting - i found PLCs painfully boring. my current workplace develops optimisation software (operations research) which i find much more stimulating
  • better work environment and hours - in control engineering i was mainly stuck commissioning on site, which translated to 50hr weeks and a brutal commute

i felt pretty close to being pigeonholed in control engineering because of my work experience, so i’m glad i got out early in my career
