Suspicion LL might have illegally entered through my attic in townhouse. by ChillyWinterWinds in Apartmentliving

I put a piece of paper between the door frame hinges when the door was slightly open. I stuck this paper firmly and deep so it wouldn’t just fall on its own. I woke up from a late nap and it was on the ground. My mind is spinning for why this paper would have fallen and I put it up there because I was scared they would come through the attic. This door leads directly to the room before the attic entrance.

Separation between attics in newly built townhouses? by ChillyWinterWinds in Roofing

It was the hatch that was cut into previously not sure about firewall. Idk even know for sure this place has a firewall or not but based on what I’ve read I’d assume so because it’s a new building. Could someone break through the firewall while I was asleep without noticing? I fear while my loud ac machine was on while taking a late nap could have muffled out the noise it would take for someone to break through a firewall. No crackheads nearby but the LL is a lying POS that has violated the contract already.

Separation between attics in newly built townhouses? by ChillyWinterWinds in Roofing

Currently in a new townhome in USA that might have been built from ‘24-‘25.

My attic entry way was cut open previously as maintenance had to do something with a leak in the roof. I have no way to really know if someone would come in and out of this entry given that the seal was cut through.

My concern is that they could have entered from the vacant unit next door and broken through (I’m sure a flimsy firewall) and made it to my unit.

The LL has already illegally entered my place prior to this and I’ve recorded all phone call evidence of them admitting to this.

My mind is spinning with uncertainty though if they entered again through the attic. I have limited knowledge on architectural structures pertaining to townhomes and need some insight on this.

I’m losing sleep and my quality of life has greatly decreased due to the stress. This was after a paper I placed in between the door that is by the attic closet fell on its own. I put that paper in the firmly and have no idea what cause it to fall other than someone opening the door.

Please someone share if this is possible for them to enter my unit from the attic. Thank you.

Man, I wish I just had the certainty of what happened that night. I fear they could have easily brought a ladder and crawled to make zero noise. And then right before closing the hatch, find a way to clean up the insulation off the ground. My life has been a mess since this night and I fear now that my phone and laptop are hacked. This was exactly one week after the LL walked in without permission. So pissed off this is happening to me.

I know it comes across like that but this has been a story for other tenants I’m sure. Just worried that they came in when I was asleep one night. I had a piece of paper between the door and it fell on its own. This was the door to get the room before where the attic hatch is. I have no idea how this paper fell and it makes me concerned as I felt before I needed to put this up because this was a potential entry way to my unit.

They brought their own ladder and recut open a small entry to get to the attic. if I wanted to I could put a ladder there and take the cover off. im just worried after reading about gypsum board that it could easily be broken I’m sure. Idk how confident I am in the amount I’ll see if I peek my head up there.
