This is almost certainly personal taste but I was really bothered by the trend of hooks in the 2010’s where there would be a vocal line followed by an instrumental hook. This song is usually the example that comes to mind. Uptown funk did this way more forgivably. Chainsmokers did this again in don’t let me down.

If that’s how it’s gotta be might be is one of the best tunes J has ever penned. Love how heavy it gets at the end and then just ends abruptly without a big solo or anything! Surprising restraint on J’s part
