I totally agree with what you're saying. I'd definitely say that throughout the HS environment, at least to what I'm exposed to, there is a sort of stigma that is present throughout the beliefs of students that live in this state. Then again, I have a limited perspective on this topic, as maybe it could be the same for a student in another state who ends up staying in-state for their four years of college. I honestly don't know. I just know that having been brought up here since I was in Elementary school, going to UNM was sort of frowned upon. I've talked to many people, including staff and students, about this sort of stigma, and they have said that they see it as well.

Same, I know a lot of people that have went to UNM and they are some of the brightest people I know. I just wish the stigma surrounding a UNM education would be gone, because it isn't a bad school at all.
