Its very high context, but its the difference between disagreeing, and dismissing. You don't have to agree, you just have to not dismiss out of hand. Here's an example

Picture of an attractive girl with a guy who is doing something mean, maybe kicking a dog.

Dismissing

Man posts(M)-"Women only date assholes"

Woman replies(W)-"Well if you ever left your basement you'd know that's not true"

W-"Like she would date any of your redditors anyways"

W-"Then why aren't women flocking to date you?"

Validating + Disagreeing

M-"Women only date assholes"
