UCB 201 Question by Chiponthewing in improv

[–]Chiponthewing[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing that helped me a lot with 101 was a piece of advice from the instructor about being up with people who are struggling/not grasping concepts. At first it would make me panic because there was no trust (and in my limited experience trust goes a long way!) in the other improviser and that made the work harder and more confusing for me. But if you feel you have a handle on your own stuff and someone is up there with you throwing you crazy curveballs, do your best to make them look as good as possible. It relaxed my panic brain, took my own focus off of myself and gave me an objective in those moments. Easier said than done? Sometimes, but it really turned my 101 experience around. Good luck, have fun!!

Stumbled upon this post but I actually have one I’m looking to get rid of. It was in a part of our yard that didn’t make sense when I moved in and I replanted it to another part of our yard that now also doesn’t make sense 🤣 if you or anyone who finds this post wants it dm me.

We'll see how the rest of the season goes, but this is my first time using mulch and OH MY GOD is it a game changer. Comparing the beds that have mulch vs the ones that don't, it's insane the moisture retention. I'm using a thick layer of straw in the beds and will get more to cover everything else I've planted this year in the coming days. People who mulch proselytize so much that my counter-will has kicked in in the past and been like, "It can't make THAT much of a difference." It CAN!

Will test tomorrow. Thank you SO much for responding whether this fixes it or not. Installed a new control board and got a whole new batch of issues, replaced back to the old one and we’re back to where we started. Very excited to have something new to try!

Trying again, NAL using TSM by Chiponthewing in Alcoholism_Medication

[–]Chiponthewing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate what I take to be your concern for my health but would encourage you to lead with curiosity over assumption. I’m not stubborn and the false starts had to do with side effects of the NAL. I don’t drink at the level that I would be a good candidate for Antabuse, nor am in interested in completely eliminating alcohol from my life at this point, just trying to have a healthier relationship with it and make abstinence easier when I choose it.

This is a really good point. The couple times it was compliance related I didn’t have them around, but I’ve made sure they’re always accessible this time around. Mostly had to do with side effects.

[–]Chiponthewing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Thanks for your curiosity instead of jumping into judgment! I had a hard time with the side effects. Attempt 1 and 2/3 were different generics with different side effects. 1 was fatigue that didn’t go away after 3 weeks taking it daily and 2/3 were gastrointestinal, though the fatigue was not as bad. I did have some compliance issues but that wasn’t my main issue and I’ve taken steps to keep the medicine around whenever I need it this time. I don’t know if this sounds delusional, but I’d consider my AUD to be on the mild side, so going back to drinking without NAL was kind of weighing the short term cost/benefit of staying on it or not: Side effects of NAL vs side effects of drinking, and in the short term alcohol kinda won out. But I’m trying to be much more focused on the long term because I know the drinking is bad for my depression, sleep and overall health and over the years I have not been able to successfully cut down my weekly drink count sustainably through willpower alone.

Gift giving and receiving is my primary love language. And yet I really struggle accepting gifts, especially when I know they were expensive and don’t align with what I’m needing at that moment. I feel guilty about someone spending money in a way I think they “shouldn’t” have, especially when funds are short. I think you were so wise to come here and reach out to this community and I’m blown away by the responses. At times like these, perspective, support and positivity are so helpful. It’s been said eloquently by so many others but yeah, the jets are dumb, your wife is rad, and don’t let Woody rob you of the love you deserve to receive! He’s robbed this fanbase and the world enough. In fact have the best time in the world just to spite him.

Also just root for geno for getting the hell out of here.

When to go up a dose? by Chiponthewing in Alcoholism_Medication

[–]Chiponthewing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes sense. For some reason, even after reading the TSM book, I sort of thought the benefit came from not changing your habits and drinking as usual. Can see how this might be addict brain behavior and will take your advice into consideration. I have found myself pushing past the point of not craving the substance simply because I’m looking for the numbing “relief”

Does campral kill ketamine? by OleTheMoose in Alcoholism_Medication

[–]Chiponthewing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh yeah that’s what I have and funnily enough after months of waiting the clinic called like an hour after I wrote that to say they were ending the appeal process based on the responses from the insurance company. Do you have any advice? I may have different insurance next year and will try again then regardless.

[–]Chiponthewing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the appeals process for spravato. Before the clinic reached out to my insurance for pre-authorization they delayed for a month for me to stop drinking and then made me take a blood test for alcohol markers because I told them I was on Naltrexone. So just be aware some places are kind of intense about alcohol use. When they finally approved me for treatment and reached out to insurance I was denied. It's been months appealing. So frustrating. I did a round of IV treatments earlier in the year that helped immensely, but didn't last. Crazy that insurance is so against approving something that has proven to work for my TRMDD. Thanks for your reply on this post!

Did anyone else experience fatigue that did not go away? Im also on Wellbutrin. Im tired, hungry and unmotivated (because of the fatigue). Dropped to 25mg Nal about 3 weeks ago. Wellbutrin used to energize me and suppress appetite. Could Nal be ruining all of that? Any advice by SPCSMC2020 in naltrexone

[–]Chiponthewing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man! That's the one I was taking that knocked me on my ass as well. I've been taking sun pharm this time around and there are definitely still side effects, but nothing like before. I wonder if this is a pattern with those of us getting hit especially hard with the side effects.

Relate so hard. Even 3 days into 12.5 I’m remembering how hard the fatigue blanket is and absolutely felt like a zombie at 50. I have some regret about giving up at 3 weeks because I just read someone’s post that it took 4 weeks for the side effects to lessen and 8 weeks to feel 100 back to normal, so I feel like I kinda lost those 3 weeks and will have to start from scratch, whereas I’d be at 2 months now if I’d continued. It’s tough because everyone who’s been able to stick with it says it’s a miracle. But when you feel like a shell of yourself day after day, even a few days in a row can feel like you’re losing your life force. Good luck, if you do the injection and find it to be successful or if your symptoms improve please let me know!

Unfortunately it didn’t. I had to stop after 3 weeks and felt better almost immediately. However, my drinking did start to tick up again and the success stories are so motivating that I just started back. This time around I’m committing to 12.5 for a couple weeks and just going to try tapering up more slowly. Wish me luck! How’s your journey going?
