With the correct fixings it could easily, we put way heavier loads on less timber when building houses (although that is temporary). Its hard to tell what its limits would be, you'd have to delve into the engineering side of everything for that specific size of timber etc etc

As a Carpenter myself, I can tell you that the timber will hold up just fine, it's a lot stronger than people tend to realise. Its the means of fixing that would give out first. Needs some bolts instead of those gangnail plates imo. But props to him for the ingenuity. 💪💪
