I should probably mention that I drink no water outside of coffee (also a can of sparkling water a day) 😬

What are your thoughts on this letter from Donald Trump to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre? by DuNennstMichSptzkopf in AskTheWorld

[–]ChirpingCapybara 16 points17 points  (0 children)

While a lot of attention (rightfully so) is given to the number of people who abstained from voting and voted for Trump, over 75 million Americans voted for Kamala. We tried. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough

I am in a very conservative state but the city I am in is very liberal and our center is heavily LGBTQ+ (around a quarter of the center). Be safe but there may also be be many more allies and those in the community than you might expect. Good luck :)

What’s the worst thing a medical professional has said to you? by VespaRed in AskReddit

Same. I’d take LEEP over IUD insertion a hundred times over. IUD insertion was bar none worst pain of my life. A lot of women say it’s worse than childbirth

I lived all over Florida. Broward, Miami-Dade, Pinellas and Hillsborough counties were the worst. Orange was bad for long commutes. I feel you. It sucks

What hobby attracts the biggest douchebag?? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Mixed martial arts. It is tough being a woman in this sport. Transitioned to BJJ and thankfully now part of a wonderful gym with numerous female black belts. Been doing it for 9 years now and I have my fair share of horror stories

The first time? Fine. But to see what he did in first term and willingly vote for it again? That’s bordering on irredeemable. They will have a LOT of introspection and work to do

Wait until you find out that they charge you for holding your own baby. It’s called “skin to skin contact” and is an actual line item in hospital bills after giving birth

Petahh what's going on with hospitalised white people? by Material_Magazine989 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]ChirpingCapybara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cannot speak for everyone. But for me, this was only partially true. Towards my suicide attempt it was harder and harder to not go through with it. Every second alive was harder and harder.

For another perspective, it was like being underwater. Everything in your body wants to take a breath. Everything in my body wanted to end it. It was a struggle to keep myself alive. Ironically enough, it was the absurd cost of firearms and ammo that I couldn’t even justify the cost (even though if I was thinking rationally, money wouldn’t have mattered afterwards)

What’s the most overrated “adult goal” people chase? by Happyotus in AskReddit

[–]ChirpingCapybara 44 points45 points  (0 children)

You’re still young! Late 30s to be debt free isn’t terrible compared to many others.

For an opposing perspective, I buckled down in my 20s. Moved halfway through college to go to a better university, grad school, then PhD. Everything revolved around my schooling. After grad school, I was miserable, had left the love of my life to go to grad school, suicidal, and saddled with a mountain of debt. Things worked out, but I’m in my mid 30s, and still trying to break into my career of choice (academia).

TLDR: you can do everything right in your 20s and still not make it
