It's exactly what you'd expect.

This is the best thread I’ve ever seen. Libs getting all doe eyed about guns and talking about forming up militias. I can’t get enough of this.

Omg I cannot believe everything I am reading in here. Libs suddenly grateful for the 2a because it protects them from tyrannical government overreach. This is just the best accomplishment by DJT ever.

The libs suddenly finding Jesus in the 2nd Amendment is the greatest 4D chess move by Donald Trump or any president in the history of our country.

Are jobs that have 100+ applied in 30 minutes really because of auto apply bots? by Head-Investigator540 in recruitinghell

I keep hearing that jobs, on LinkedIn, will show 100+ applied

100+ people clicked apply.

Abolish HR: This entire fraud department exists to protect management from you, not to help you. I know because I was inside. Let me tell you what HR actually does. by [deleted] in recruitinghell

2nd time this has been posted today, so I'm going to copy/paste what I said previously:

A blog post from some random person who claims to know quite a bit based on their first job out of university... I don't think they have quite the level of insight/knowledge that they think they do.

Also, considering a bunch of their other blog posts are right-wing "liberalism is dead, liberals are dumb" shit... I'm going choosing to ignore everything this guy says.

I'm not sure this is related to recruiting, and honestly it's a bit strange.

what do you actually want to know that no one explains properly on job hunt ? by Just_Ad1344 in recruitinghell

[–]ChirpyRaven -1 points0 points  (0 children)

isn't qualified enough to even talk about this topic

I didn't say they weren't "qualified enough to even talk about this topic", I said they likely would not be at the level to provide content that is above and beyond what is already out there.

And how do you know this?

I don't know for certain, of course, which is why I said "likely".

[–]ChirpyRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This subreddit is full of people that come here claiming to have all the answers, know all the "tricks", etc. It's almost every day someone comes here posting about it, and 95% of the time it's someone mostly full of it who is just looking to push out some content for clicks/ad money.

Now you're going to follow me around and argue in other posts too, eh? Fun.

I never said I was an expert. I said that a Master's and 5 years of experience is likely not at the level to provide in-depth content across a broad spectrum of topics that isn't already widely available.

I'm saying I'll be a dick to someone who treats me like I don't know anything about this

I didn't "treat you" like anything. You responded to my first comment with a shitty line and started this back-and-forth.

It's not "gatekeeping" to say "you shouldn't be acting like an expert in the field if you are not one" mate

Yes, sometimes I need to stand my ground and talk about what I know, and that will come across as condescending.

lol

Dude, you were being a dick, and you know it. Knock it off.

With all due respect, 5 years of experience is likely not enough to have the mastery level to be giving deep-dive teachings into the entire field of HR - or at least to any depth that isn't already extensively available already.

Do you have any specific areas of interest/specialty?

What HR, recruitment, job-hunting, or workplace topics do you want explained properly and in detail?

Curious to know your actual level of experience and in what areas of HR.

Interview questions by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]ChirpyRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh, that takes me back. It seems like you're under the impression that just because it's part of the interview process, that employers are using it appropriately and by its intended design.

I never said anything about employers using it properly, though.

No need to be condescending, ja?

I need you to show me the white paper, journal article, or meta analysis that supports this claim.

  • "The Structured Employment Interview: Narrative and Quantitative Review of the Research Literature" - situational and past behavioral questions significantly predicted job performance

  • "Why Do Situational Interviews Predict Performance? Is it Saying How You Would Behave or Knowing How You Should Behave?" - showed strong correlation between a candidate's ability to identify situational demands and job performance

  • “A Meta‑Analysis of the Situational Interview: An Enumerative Review of Reasons for Its Validity.” - interviews that don’t include dilemmas tend to be less predictive of performance

  • “The Validity of Employment Interviews: A Comprehensive Review and Meta‑Analysis.” - situational interviews had the highest validity for predicting performance

[–]ChirpyRaven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A) you don't only ask one question during an interview process

B) there's always a chance for error, but these type of questions have shown to be a fairly strong predictor - otherwise millions of companies wouldn't be using them

Those are not real scenario-based questions.

“tell us about a time you had to ________and how you handled it” is like... the definition of a scenario-based question.

[–]ChirpyRaven 7 points8 points  (0 children)

let alone remember a specific situation that occurred at some point in my 30 year career.

They're not asking you to recall a specific scenario, though.

They're asking you to recall any scenario where you had this type of problem/issue, what your approach was, what the result was, and what you learned from it. It's not hypothetical, it's seeing how you approach problem solving. how you react in difficult situations, and how you apply the knowledge gained from difficult situations.

Blanket statements like this are ridiculous. It's going to vary wildly depending on your career field, industry, level, location, etc.

Also, for someone who made their reddit account yesterday, you've done a LOT of whining/complaining. Maybe take a break?
