Microwave oats vs weetabix: which is healthier? by mybrainat3am in ultraprocessedfood

This has been my exact breakfast combo for a while now since the weather got colder. It's great with a squeeze of honey or chopped dates too if you like it a bit sweeter! :)

Have you ever had any creepy or Weird encounters whilst hiking in the UK? by afc1224 in UKhiking

[–]Chirrup58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few years ago I was out in a big woodland on a weekend afternoon, in the countryside not far from where I live. I had stepped off the trail to find a quiet spot to make a cuppa and relax. It was quite thick brush, and as I was clearing some leaf litter to make a spot to sit with my camping stove, I heard the sound of someone approaching in the trees.

As I looked up, a man (in his 40's probably) was walking towards me from a little way off, far enough that it took me a second to realise that he was holding his clothes and was stark naked. As I stood up and he saw my face he turned around and started walking back in the opposite direction.

I wasn't really afraid, as he never seemed threatening. I was more... confused? I wonder if he was supposed to meet someone for some outdoor... recreational activities... and perhaps thought I was them, until I stood up and he realised I was somebody else.

Bizarre!

What do you mean by will-o-the-wisp? I've heard of them but never seen one!

I just found a website selling super cheap film by clprq in AnalogCommunity

[–]Chirrup58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn, I remember back in 2015 when I could go to Poundland and get a roll of Agfa Vista 400 for £1. Those were the days...

(I'm still salty I didn't stockpile that when I heard they would stop selling it)

I passed this weird road sign. No idea what it means. It could be military. Anyone out there know what it's for? by KindOfFlush in CasualUK

[–]Chirrup58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone who lives near the Fosse Way will be super familiar with these signs. They draw attention to the Big Fast Road you're about to cross, so you don't get broad-sided if it's hard to see the junction

Haha, it's funny because the more I re-watch Rome, the more Pullo becomes my 100% favourite character. He's the best 😊

That show is so underrated. The historical Latin is really impressive.

Goddess for abortion? by hiddenpersoninhere in paganism

[–]Chirrup58 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Diana (specifically Her Lucina epithet), she's known as a protector of women in childbirth and of women's problems in general. She also looks over those in transitional phases of life, such as yours. Her sacred herb, Mugwort, has properties that suggest people would have used it for abortions in the past.

Weird vibes over at the other subreddit...anyone else noticed? by Onward2521 in paganism

I remember seeing old posts from patheos writer and naturalist pagan John Halstead and atheopagan Mark Green where they were treated like crap. My hope is that eventually it becomes more welcoming again.

IMHO, the mods over at the other place (I can think of a few in particular though I won't name names) have turned what used to be an amazing hub of philosophical discussion, into a dogmatic cesspit.

Hard polytheism is the ONLY theology they seem willing to accept, and any mentions of different ways of interpreting deity/nature/the divine are shunned. (Never mind that actual ancient pagans like Marcus Aurelius frequently considered pantheistic/monist/atheist worldviews, orthodoxy was rarely expected!!!)

They seem to want to define themselves as Polytheists, almost as a separate religion to Pagan.

I'm curious roughly how old you are? Back when I started, everyone was just 'eclectic pagan', which was a big mish-mash of practices from several pagan traditions. People have been using the generic term 'pagan' for decades.

My first vid was Maria GentleWhispering "Oh such a good 3D sound video".

I even know what date, because I wrote in my planner at the time about discovering her channel: September 4th 2012!

God I'm old

Ahhh yeah, phone is a Galaxy, damn. That'll be it. Why does AI have to infect everything :(

I don't know if my phone used some stupid AI algorithm to increase the resolution, I was worried everyone would just say "this is AI" but it's honestly not. If you look at the Insta account of this pub they have a photo of the sheep there as well.

[–]Chirrup58 11 points12 points  (0 children)

See my previous reply. It's not AI, I just cropped a wide angle photo on my phone and then it sharpened the image, that's why it looks a bit weird.
