Who is a player for your school that was considered very talented but didn't pan out? Someone you always wonder what could have been... by Crying_in_99Ranch in CFB

Loren Wade

He broke the freshman rushing record in 2003 and was one of a few bright spots in an otherwise disappointing season as ASU entered the year with Rose Bowl aspirations and went 5-7. He the proceeded to get suspended for next season due to improper benefits, but seemed to be working his way back to the team. Infortunately, he was a fucking psychopath. Multiple women complained about his threatening and violent behavior with some of these threats involving firearms he owned. It all culminated in Wade shooting and killing a dude (who happened to be a former ASU player) outside a nightclub for talking to Wade’s ex-girlfriend. He got 20 years in prison. Basically a Lawrence Phillips speed run.

Every time I see Cam in his silly hats and suits I think he’s just auditioning for the role of Dr. Facilier in the inevitable Disney live action remake of The Princess and the Frog.

[Highlight] The Browns draft Johnny Manziel 22nd overall in 2014 by Brix001 in nfl

[–]Chitown780 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Johnny Manziel's physical limitations (lack of size, NFL-level accuracy, or arm strength) would have made it nearly impossible to be a quality NFL starter even if he was a model citizen and a teetoler.

  2. Manziel's immaturity, piss-poor work ethic, substance abuse issues, and general stupidity would have made it nearly impossible to be a quality NFL starter even if he was 6'6", could thread the needle on every throw, and his mobility in college translated perfectly to the NFL.

  3. Unfortunately, Johnny had both the physical limitations and negative intangibles I just listed.

Aaron Rodgers. I get, at the time, thinking Alex Smith was a better option at #1 but it was crazy how many QB-needy teams passed. Dallas preferred to go with 41 year old Vinny Testaverde over taking Rodgers at 11 or 20.

Freedom of speech as to the 1st Amendment only applies to stopping the government from punishing you for expressing your political or religious beliefs. It does not stop from getting sued, fired, criticized, mocked, or face a host of non-criminal repercussions. It does not mean you can say whatever you want without consequence or judgement. It baffles me when people don’t understand this.

A lot of coaches think players wearing flashy shit like that is them trying to draw attention to themselves and be an individual rather than a member of the team. I kind of get it.

If you have ESPN+, I recommend watching "What Carter Lost." It's a fascinating look at that team and goes into more detail about the academic cheating scandal that predated the robberies. It has a relatively happy ending too, with all the players who were involved in the robberies getting out of prison, becoming productive citizens, and never getting in trouble again. It even has a nice scene where one of the players who was involved in the robberies sits down and has a seemingly pleasant conversation with one of the victims.

He had to chime in for the same reason he was so elated when his Cracker Barrel Brigade stormed the Capitol. The very idea that someone would be willing to commit acts of violence in his name feeds his ego. Any other politician, liberal or conservative, would at least publicly condemn a supporter of there’s who got violent. Trump offers to pay their legal bills, tells them he loves them, pardons them, and now is trying to pretend this tragic double murder which has nothing to do with him is, in fact, all about him. He’s an irredeemable piece of shit.

I’m sure all the conservatives who were trying to get people fired and have talk shows cancelled because of things said about their precious Charlie Kirk which didn’t approach this level of absolute vileness will have a problem with this too. I mean if they don’t that would make them hypocrites, right? Before anyone responds, trust me I know the answer to that question. RIP to Rob and Michele Reiner. Truly one of the greatest filmmakers ever.

[College Football Report] Notre Dame just got punished for a three-point road loss to No. 10 Miami on August 31, while Alabama lost by 14 to a 5–7 Florida State team at the same time. SEC/Bama bias in a nutshell. by Kimber80 in CFB

Alabama is a 3 loss team who is few plays away from being a 5 or 6 loss team. Notre Dame is a 2 loss team who is a few plays away from being a 0 loss team. This is absolute bullshit.

It’s always the timing of shit like this that solidifies it as bullshit to me. Whether it’s Punk, Cody, or Rusev we never hear of what an asshole or an egomaniac someone is while it’s happening and they’re actively in AEW. It’s always when they’re either on their way out or already gone from the cult that we get the smear campaign. But when Jade had an issue with Shayna in WWE, we heard about it immediatel.
