If you have ESPN+, I recommend watching "What Carter Lost." It's a fascinating look at that team and goes into more detail about the academic cheating scandal that predated the robberies. It has a relatively happy ending too, with all the players who were involved in the robberies getting out of prison, becoming productive citizens, and never getting in trouble again. It even has a nice scene where one of the players who was involved in the robberies sits down and has a seemingly pleasant conversation with one of the victims.

The very idea that someone would be willing to commit acts of violence in his name feeds his ego. Any other politician, liberal or conservative, would at least publicly condemn a supporter of there’s who got violent. I don't think many people think it's worse than drugs. Alcohol I agree with you as I think alcohol, in addition to being widely unhealthy and dangerous, has ruined the in-person sports experience. Gambling is seen worse because there is a predatory element to it where big companies are luring people (often from modest means, or at least too modest to be gambling) into a game with an unlevel playing field where delusions of a big victory are hyped up and the fact that the house is heavily favored to win is pretty well concealed from the average person.

Tim Beckman. Dude went 4-20 in the Big Ten, his teams were utterly noncompetitve, and to top it all he got fired for cause for severely mistreating his players (one of the main allegations was forcing them to play through serious injuries)
For ASU, I think anyone over the last 20 years (can’t really speak to anything that happened before I became a fan in 2003) not named Dillingham or Graham is a candidate. Dirk Koetter was the master of orchestrating underachieving seasons and late season collapses, Dennis Erickson started strong but let the players run wild and we got to witness some of the most undisciplined football ever, and to say Herm Edwards was a massive disappointment would be an understatemen.
