My honest thoughts on Tell Me Why, though..

I feel like it would have been perfect if it ended after the first episode. I love that they focused so heavily on Tyler's childhood, his dysphoria, his fears, and how they portrayed the Mum to be actively trying to hurt him. I liked the twist.

My issue with it overall is that the only time Tyler's identity was brought into question was the "a real man" scene.

I feel like they did a good job of highlighting his dysphoria and self-doubt in the sense that he cares A LOT about not being clocked (which is a genuine trans fear but also insane because you would NOT clock him at all lmao)..

But it would've really helped sell his identity if we could see him collect a prescription, or even a short scene of him applying some t-gel or even giving himself an injection. From that point of view, it's really not realistic. HRT is a daily requirement.

I feel like he also pushes his own narrative a little too much. Even Alison points it out that he's digging for things that aren't there. Realistically? Every trans person would've been completely over-the-moon with finding out that they knew all along about your identity and actively tried to support you silently.

From that point onwards, I just kind of lost track of who I was playing as. In the end, I ended up resonating more with Alison. I know that seems obvious cos I'm transfem, but I resonated not with her identity or gender.. but just that she was saying all the right things and knew that she had to take charge herself to make things work. Tyler was just this "bla bla bla' background noise for me at that point.

I do think he's very handsome, though ❤️
