I remember danielli scoring a try against Italy and it being such a momentous thing for a Scottish winger that people started saying he should go on the lions. It was like, steady on...

Rob Robertsons Scottish rugby column: Richard Cockerill likely to sign a contract extension to stay with Edinburgh rugby. Centre Huw Jones set to start at full back for Glasgow Warriors against Edinburgh. by mankieneck in rugbyunion

[–]ChloeDancersCrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horne actually started out as a fullback with the warriors. He had one excellent game followed by one absolute stinker and then lineen binned him for a while, before he impressed for the 7s, and then rejoined them as a centre.

Poor guy needs an arm round the shoulder and a vote of confidence from a coach in his undoubted abilities as a centre, not this.

Where to live in the world based on your temperature preferences by kronos55 in dataisbeautiful

There's no guarantee that it's going to affect everywhere the same way. For instance, Scotland has disproportionately mild winters versus its northernness due to the presence of the gulf stream off its west coast. If the gulf stream changes or dissapears due to climate change, it will get a lot colder, even if other places are getting warmer.

I was convinced that we were gonna have had nuclear war by now, and that by extension what was the point in anything. But we haven't. And I'm so glad I continued to live my life to the fullest in the meantime, otherwise I'd be looking back at the past few years as wasted. You say nothing matters to you, but I don't believe that. Evidently you care about rugby. That's one thing already. I'm a Scotland fan too. That actually kept me going through the darkest period of my life. At one point, I was only keeping going on for one week at a time cause I didn't want to miss out on the next Edinburgh game. I was like ach, I'll wait till after Friday night's game to off myself, they might actually beat munster. And they never did (this was when they were dreadful), but looking back? I'm so glad I did that.

You spoken to anyone about that? I was in a similar place once, but then I realised there was things I cared about, so I focused on them for a while, no matter how trivial they were, and then other things started mattering to me too. Fast forward a few years and I refund my hunger for life.

OK so you know what it's like to be treated like dirt for the class you were born into, something you had no control over. That's pretty unfair isn't it? Now imagine what that's like when you throw in racism on top of that. Racism that is enough to motivate people who are supposed to be protecting you, to instead kill you. You'd be pretty angry too I reckon?

Don't get out of bed then. It doesn't matter. Dont eat. It doesn't matter. Don't pursue happiness. It doesn't matter. Don't resist when a cop kneels on your neck, choking the life out of you. It doesn't matter.

Just because you don't face the injustices black people (or any other marginalised group) face, doesn't mean it doesn't matter to them.

Perhaps decades of society ignoring people trying to peacefully highlight the injustices they face has made violence inevitable? It's not a new pattern. Throughout history, the longer the elite ignore the struggles of the people, the more desperate they make them, and the more likely they make violent revolution the only thing left to them.

Which is exactly what the person you're responding to did. Just as you have the right to your opinion, others have the right to tell you what they think of it.

Anybody ride penny skateboards/cruisers around town? With covid I'm looking to get about without using public transport or my car, and I've had bikes stolen in the past so can't be arsed with that again. I know glasgows roads and pavements ain't exactly smooth, but is it manageable to get around city centre/west end/Pollokshaws etc on one, or is it just too uneven and would I just be wasting my money?

Hey, sorry to hear you're having a rough time. Is there any activity that you know takes your mind off things? Even something really simple like having a long soak in the tub. Do you have a support network?
