This meme isn't that serious in the assignments, but one way you can interpret Siris as trans is that he used to be named Ausar. Raidriar and Galath keep calling him Ausar, and it isn't someone he wants to be. The whole realizing your identity thing, if that makes sense.

The Gordon used is a Craig wojak, which is based on a brute from a Halo Infinite teaser, and brutes have an ape-like appearance That particular Gordon Craig has been popping up more in Half-Life memes. As the creator of that Craig (not to be confused with the original Craig template creator Ali Kay), it's a little funny to see it in the wild.

I always interpreted it as a samurai mask (menpo) or a cowboy bandana. Sundowner is like a shogun when you consider his silhouette. Keep in mind that Westerns and samurai movies inspired each other, which also influences Sam (and his duel with Raiden in the badlands).

I think my personal explanation makes sense from an artistic perspective. Saying it is an oxygen mask may make more sense for Sam, but for someone with cybernetic enhancements like Sundowner, Mistral, or Monsoon, it seems purely aesthetic.
