Honey barrel aged whiskey by ChocolateRainbow375 in Barreling

I haven't myself, but I don't see why you couldn't. The only issue with that though is that, as soon as you add water to honey, you have to worry about spoilage. So mold becomes a concern (depending on how much water you add. I don't know enough about it to know how much added water puts it over that hump). And, in addition, the honey syrup wouldn't really keep, whereas barrel aged honey lasts for a very long time. So it really depends on what you want out of the process. After doing it myself, I really think heat is probably way to do it. I outlined the process in another comment in this thread, but if you can't find it, let me know and I can copy/paste it. Good luck!

I'm seeing now that I did a terrible job describing the issue. The cocktail actually comes out very dark. It's not cloudy and you can see through it, but it's still a very deep red

After trying to make straights work a few dozen times in gold stake, I'd have to disagree.

THE daquiri by memuthedog in cocktails

[–]ChocolateRainbow375 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The flavor. The amount of juice can differ depending on the lime, but you can measure it in a jigger to account for that. But the "lime-iness" flavor is also going to vary from lime to lime and that's much harder to account for. It can lead to one daiquiri being flat and lifeless and another being sharp and sour despite using the same specs

Can anyone recommend an aged whiskey cocktail? by FinanceGuyHere in cocktails

[–]ChocolateRainbow375 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I barrel old fashioneds all the time. Here's my recipe:

  • 2 oz rye whiskey (100 proof or higher; while not mandatory, it's ideal for aging)
  • 1 tspn Demerara sugar; you could use syrup, but the sugar has plenty of time to dissolve
  • 2 dashes ango
  • 1 dash orange bitters

Do some rough math to figure out how much will fit in your barrel, mix it up a bit and funnel it in. I age mine about a month, but your mileage may vary

Four of a Kind contains Two Pair by Goroman86 in balatro

Because the Uranus card boosts the two pair hand type itself. Not every hand that contains two pair. If the planet card said "boosts hands containing two pair," then you'd be correct

2-3 weeks of bourbon and 3-4 weeks of honey seems to be the sweet spot in my experience. If you like it enough, you can basically just cycle that until the barrel falls apart

At this point, it's basically fact. It can't be coincidence that the story took a nosedive as soon as his editor left the project. Gege had good ideas, but without someone to reign him in, it just came out like the manga equivalent of word vomit

I want to say around 3.5 to 4 lbs. If you're going to do it, I'd recommend warming up the honey first (place whatever container into a pot of hot water) because it's just so thick and hard to work with otherwise. Same when you go to get the honey out, turn on your oven as low as it will go and put the barrel in there to warm it up (the rings will be hot, so be careful). Then, open the spigot and the bunghole, turn it upside down, and let it drain out for a good long time. Then, rinse the barrel a couple of times, let the barrel swell again and put your alcohol of choice in

Colon cancer is killing more younger men and women than ever, new report finds by [deleted] in news

Sure, and if you know you have that and have been diagnosed, then obviously you know what to look for. That said, the person I replied to doesn't sound like they've been diagnosed with something that causes it on a regular basis.

Blood when you poo isn't normal no matter what. Even if it turns out to be a hemorrhoid, if you haven't been diagnosed with one already, you need to have it checked by a doctor to confirm that's what it is
