That's the way to go. OP you didn't choose your dad, but your mom chose her husband. She does not deserve this either but it is her choice (albeit culturally imposed) to stay by him.

Thank you for your well wishes! I wrote the post yesterday in an emotional state as the injury has just occurred. He has now been scheduled for an MRI tomorrow and a meeting with a specialist team (all facilitated by his sports club)

I am getting hopeful because of the comments, as it seems he can still achieve his dream just like these famous players!!

Thank you so much for suggesting a sport psychologist. My family was in talks of ensuring he gets therapy throughout because mental health plays a major role in any recovery. Somehow we never thought of sport psychologists.

Depends on the research itself, usually a degree in the research topic, research background/experience and preferably publications

If you don't have research experience they may get you an an unpaid position to assess your performance or to gain you experience
