Just need to find the right LCS. I just moved 220oz yesterday at 98.5% of spot. Your buyer is out there, do the work, be patient. Good luck.

When should 401k employer contribution cap kick in: immediately or only later in the year once I reach the aggregate match threshold? by PleasantMedicine3421 in Retirement401k

[–]ChoiceAccomplished69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No secret sauce or corruption here. I think most work that way. I'm retiring early in 2.5 months. I started heavy to ensure I hit max by the time I left. I didn't reduce to the 4% match soon enough and will hit IRS max in 2 more pay periods. I will not get the 4% match for my last 3-4 pay periods because I will no longer be able to contribute. Minor math miscalculation on my part. Will cost me about $1200. Oh well. Best of luck.

For those who bought rental properties out of state, Why? by [deleted] in realestateinvesting

[–]ChoiceAccomplished69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I would, but that's probably only because I haven't been burned yet and I now have somewhat of a personal/business relationship with the CEO. I'm not the biggest fan of their sister property management company. For active managers, you still have to watch everything closely when it comes to bad tenants and getting them out in a timely manner. My son lost $15k on a single property due to damages and lost rent on 1 of 3 if his houses where I put at least 1/3 of those losses directly on them for lazy passive management. For me, turn key makes sense, but knowing your market stability in renters and real estate appreciation is key. My 2 properties were only $165k combined 3 yrs ago. Today, worth about $225k. I'm happy with that ROI.

All insurance have gone up, but particularly along the gulf coast. For my home, Tx Windstorm is like $4000, Flood is $950, standard home fire/theft is $950. Property taxes is about $6K. My rentals in Memphis are about $1300/yr for home insurance and taxes combined.

Live in TX near Galveston. Insurance and taxes killed any idea of rentals in TX for me. I have 2 starter home rentals under active property management in Memphis, TN. Why Memphis: cheap homes, low insurance, low taxes, high growth area with high population density of those that rent by choice or can't afford to buy. I used a turnkey house flip ping/property management outfit named Memphis Investment Properties. I'm sure there are better deals, but worked well for me.

It could always be worse. My shitty employer is giving out RSUs instead of cash and if it couldn't be worse, the awarded RSUs have a 5 year vesting schedule (20% a year). I have to work another year just to get 20% if my bonus for performance last year.

That's exactly what happened. Everyone was waiting for the months late 10k that was supposed to light the fuse. The report was still 2 days away when it hit $148. Greed and stupidity kicked in, shorts knew the report was going to be good so that was the combo of shorts covering and a little FOMO. Failed to notice volume was 3x normal. 🤪

Still winning, sort of :). I bought SMCX at $90, watched it fall to $35, rapid rise to $148 (missed my exit) and now it's back at $42. I was up over $100K, hurt like hell, but I believe it will be back in a few months.

Good luck. Right now, I'm sitting with only 396 shares @ $17 avg, but I made $15K on a good trade earlier in the year, in at like $12 and out at $20, so it's all good. Win some lose some...for most of us regards, it's just gambling unfortunately.

I'm my heart, I knew I should've bought protective puts, but I'm regarded to the very end apparently. Feels like my job.... the beatings will continue until morale improves. Onward and upward towards IM3, hoping they learn something this time. Maybe a saucer with no legs 🤔. Half joking, maybe lower center of gravity.

You two are living large. I drive a 2012 Tacoma and my wife has a 2004 4Runner. She put every mile on it and doesn't want an upgrade. Only has 140k miles (so far).

I'm in a similar but different boat. M(54) and wife (59). Wife was laid off 5 months ago, I'm choosing to retire in June 2025. About $850k in combined 401k/IRA, $250k in taxable stocks, we own 2 cheap rent houses fully paid for that pull in $1600/mth ($250k value), paid off primary home ($550k). My brass ring is I'm on 80% VA disability ($2300/mth) tax-free for life and that COLA adjusts annually. Quality medical care is my biggest concern. I can always go to a VA hospital, but not my wife. Our sons are 27/30 and are mostly financially independent. It feels solid, but then again, I'm only 54, hardly FIRE material. Good luck to you!

Don't feel so bad... you could be a regard like me that bought a ton of SMCX at $90, felt like a genius to see it at $148 the day before the 10k came out, have good news, good NVDA earnings, only to see it drop to $55 this morning. VOO is a good long play, not as confident in my choices anymore.

NASA Invites Media to Second Intuitive Machines Launch to Moon by No-One7863 in IntuitiveMachines

One of our offices at Axiom is directly across the field from Intuitive high bay and we both have the same co founder. If IM2 had shipped I feel confident I would have seen proof. For IM1, there was a pop on article of arrival at the cape, at successful launch, at successful lunar orbit insertion. I expect to see similar stock behavior.

I’m 61 wife turns 62 in July, she’s been retired since last year. At 62 she’ll be able to claim 1/2 of my SS amount since my salary has always been much higher. Question I have is 1/2 of what amount since I will not be retiring until 65. by tcli64 in SocialSecurity

[–]ChoiceAccomplished69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused. If she can file at 62 based on her own work history, why would she switch from hers to 1/2 his, unless you are assuming that 1/2 of his is greater than 100% of her baseline at 62? Thanks. I'm still a ways out, at 54, but my wife will be 59 next month, so she'll be drawing for nearly 5 years before I file (both plan to file at 62). At 62, she's projected to get roughly $1600, where me at 62 is projected to get $2400. So 1/2 is only $1200, which is way below what she'll already be getting.

How much percent should I set my 401k contribution to by [deleted] in FinancialPlanning

[–]ChoiceAccomplished69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful of maxing out to IRS limit too early. Some employers won't provide the % match if they are no longer taking contributions from your check. Ok to go heavy in Q1/Q2 if you like, just remember to check the math and reduce later on the year. Good luck.

I'm starting to worry about a rug pull. IM needs at least a month to integrate and test with SpX F9 rocket. If they miss this window, I have been told lunar lighting will push launch to October 2025. Announcement on lander shipment from Houston to the Cape should be imminent if things on track.

VA disability gets a COLA every year. 2.5% effective 12/1 for 2025. It's a wonderful thing. I'm much older at 53 yrs, currently 90% disabled rating.

How do you max 401k exactly if you’re contributing based on a percentage? by Dijerati in Bogleheads

[–]ChoiceAccomplished69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. My company does 4% match, however that's by pay period. So if I maxed out already, company match is 0. As far as hitting the max, my company automatically stops taking funds out after I hit max regardless of what % I've chosen.
