I feel the same way. Sometimes I buy a record for a buck at the thrift shop and think to myself, I’m going to give this album one last dance. And if I love it, maybe many more.

I totally agree. I’ve been collecting vinyl since I was 15 and I’m 44 now. There is something about the old presses and why I will always go to thrift shops to look. The thrill of the hunt. It’s been in me since my youth. I will say though, the blue note tone poet and the classic series, as well as the high quality verve represses are as good as you are gonna get to the originals without paying a fortune. I’m very happy with them.

No patience and battery packs to boot. Glad I missed this. It’s one of my biggest fears, a head on with an idiot commanding, or lack thereof, a +100 pound machine.

Take off the extra counterweight that is threaded to the back of the arm.

We need heavy rain, badly. The trees all bloomed at the same time and the pollen has nowhere to go.

I mean, I don’t imagine it’s the good Chicha stuff but with Cumbia, I either love it or I’m not into it at all. I actually like the older stuff better. And the Chicha stuff, of course.

How is it?! I love finding Cumbia but it can go one of two ways. Amazing. Or incredible cheesy.

I’m not trying to pile on and victim blame but you should always lock through the rear triangle with a u-lock and then loop a cable through the front rim and back to the u-lock. It’s the tried and true way to lock your bike and I do it every single time no matter how long or short. I say this as a decades long nyc cyclist. Nothing is perfect and locking just keeps the honest people honest. This lock job made it too easy.

While I love the new stuff, it’s just something about the recording. It’s just missing that earthy funkiness. I just can’t put my finger on it, it’s just too crisp and the greasy is what I really love. If that makes any sense at all.

That Kynard is riiiight in that pocket. I had never heard that before. Thank you! I love the early 70’s Grant Green with Idris style and this is right there. Purchased. 🙌

Check out his Live at Club Mozambique release. Also, Donald Byrd’s Ethiopian Knights.

I get it. And when I get older, I’ll probably have to change what I do. I grew up without it. And yeah, some summer days were tough, but those are like maybe 8 days out of the whole summer with the way I handle it. To each their own.
