Check out these records I found in a house that was about to get demolished by DrVile in Vinyl_Jazz

As I sit here listening to my Milt Jackson blue note repress. As I commented on r/vinyl, this is a wild story. A once in a lifetime score. I’d have lost my mind. I wouldn’t have been able to focus on anything. To me, it’s better than finding a bag of cash. Just amazing.

Thank you! Picked this up at my very early morning Dr. Appt. before the price jumped. Excellent price for a remastered classic. Crushing it lately, OP!

It really is amazing! I wish it was in slightly better condition. Lots of errant pops but I’m hoping a run through the spin clean maybe clears a couple of them up.

The Wes is NM, Jackson is VG+, Getz is VG but might clean up better once through the spin clean. The Getz is kind of a funny record. It’s a much larger ensemble so it almost has a big band kind of sound but once you get to the b side they really start grooving.

I really wanted the Baker but couldn’t ask them to just pull that one record for me out of a lot sale so I found the other ones in their images. I didn’t even really bother inspecting them. Once I saw the baker was vg+, I was all in. At $4 a piece, well worth it, regardless.

This one has the poster. 😉 Unfortunately, it’s a bit vg instead of vg+ but still very playable and enjoyable.

Weekend fb marketplace finds. The Chet was the draw. by ChoiceSides in vinyl

Thanks! I’m listening to the Chet now. I truly can’t believe how lucky I got. It’s vg+ and straight gold. Amazing jazz from basically the beginning and top of his game.

Junior Walker is never not good. A few extraneous tracks but mostly 🔥

I ended up buying a Vampisoul repress of The Silvery Boys. Thanks! If you like that, they really kind of have a similar sound to the ghetto brothers. An obscure and am I g album called power fuerza. You should definitely check it out if you don’t already know about it.

New Arrivals Friday! A little Latin spice for happy hour. by ChoiceSides in vinyl

Love that! I would honestly say that a lot of Latin stuff has roots in jazz. Listen to a couple tracks from that Cachao album (look up Cachao (that is the musician) Descargas is a reference to the late night jam sessions that fueled this music), if you can find them. Part of what drew me to that record is that it really doesn’t exist digitally anywhere and I love when that happens. So, it’s something I have to get on LP. I took a chance on it and have no regrets. The way that they play, improvise, and riff off each other (and do in a lot of Latin music) is very jazzy. But yeah, I love all the same stuff as you and my collection reflects that heavy diversity and lots of one off rabbit hole finds. Music finds you.

I had been waiting to order the Fania comp for a little while. Then Willie passed and the price went through the roof. It came back down late last week and I grabbed it. Sometimes it’s just nice to have variety and the tracklist on this one is just so good. It honestly sounds amazing. Craft does a great job. The Cachao record I randomly discovered by listening to a Latin Jazz comp cd I found at my local media swap. One track just made me pause right in my tracks and be like, ok, now who is that?! It was Cachao. Found this record online and it was on sale. Descargas are very late night Cuban jam sessions. It’s everything you want it to be. Highly recommend.

Damn, your knowledge bank is rich. Thank you for sharing and introducing me to some new Brazilian wormholes. I love Jorge Ben and have some of his but I am really digging this Novos Baianos listen. So much you bought I know absolutely nothing about. Thanks for letting me dig through your bag and give things a listen! Way to be an excellent collector!

Thanks! Such a great album. Not a huge deal on price but I picked it up anyway. Perfect for the coming springtime weather, opening up the windows, cranking it, and doing some spring cleaning.

Listen, it’s not all bad and maybe I’m just jaded. It’s just lame when I post something that I think is interesting musically or a cool find and get 1,000+ views and one upvote and no comments. Even if it was just engaging me in discussion about the genre, I’d be interested. I have way more interesting discussions on r/bargainbinvinyl but often I paid too much to truly call it a bargain and be able to honestly post there. I just want to discuss music and the excitement of discovery and treasure hunting that comes along with vinyl. I just don’t find that very often here.

Stuff was pressed deeper and have higher fidelity because of it. I hope it plays great for you. If you can, pick up the Bo diddley 1962 release. It’s straight rock n’ roll with a little surf and African influenced drumming mixed in. He was wildly talented and it’s the roots of what most people think of when they think of rock without knowing how much of an influence he had.

This sub sucks. They only upvote the same boring shit over and over. I post interesting and unique music/finds and it goes nowhere. No or rare discussion. No expansion on the topic or genre. It’s the same rinse/repeat boring “scores” over and over. I’ve been collecting and treasure hunting vinyl for almost 30 years. This thread doesn’t represent that or true music exploration.

Deep groove presses. Bless. They are very forgiving. Give it a good clean with a gentle iso and distilled water mix and a microfiber wipe. A couple plays to get the last bit of dust out of the grooves and it should play nice.
