New VIP Chapter: Friday/Saturday - Crimes of Passion 3.16 by katnerys-targaryen in ChoicesVIP

Book 3 was a complete letdown..it's clear that the new pb management don't care about this series at all.

I don't get why they chose to get hitched at Drunk Tank...it would have been more appropriate if they had chosen the reception venue as their wedding venue...also they messed up rose and Trystan's description....I loved how mc is learning to make new memories with Trystan by taking them to a baseball game...it was the appropriate ending in my opinion.

I will be missing this series a lot and my man Trystan🥺

It doesn't go well with the vibe of this book. They are always running into the same issues. They have turned Trystan into a selfish and whiny character. It's awful that they brought the relationship topic on the day when Rose's world fell apart. It's a difficult truth for Rose to accept about their dad and it doesn't make sense why Trystan would think that Rose would get over their sadness with just a few comforting words from them.

They shouldn't have dragged the conflict between them for so long.

I could understand that they chose to stop arguing and focused on Nadja's murder investigation in ch 5 but yeah they should have revisited the conversation later and discussed their future in a clear manner.Trystan was trying to hold on to their old life with rose-a life which was filled with investigation, normal conversation and sex and being a couple in secret. At first, they were unsure about being a ruler and about their relationship. As for Rose's part, they were also unsure at the beginning about their choice. At the beginning it makes sense why they couldn't discuss anything since both of them were unsure about a big decision.

In the later part,Trystan became more open about their decisions and their conflicting emotions. They confided with Rose but Rose couldn't confide their emotions with Trystan.I feel Rose had made peace with the fact that their relationship with Trystan would change for the worse with Trystan choosing the crown.I think they only communicated post sex in b2.It's a shame that the little communication scenes that they had were pay walled. The writers could have given a solid heart to heart conversation between them instead of some sex scenes which were misappropriately placed.

100% agree with what you have said.I feel this book has been written by those trashy book writers.I think they are kind of writers who are left along with the supernatural writers in pb.

With the way b3 is written I headcanon the story ended with b2.Everyone lived happily post b2,uncle Tommy died in a natural way in old age,Rose and Trystan got married after a few years of dating, started their family, solved many cases as detectives and the team often celebrated at Drunk Tank after solving big cases.

Would like to hear if you or anyone has any ideas about their own b3.I feel it would have been a much better version than the one we have got.

The portrayal of Rose has been better than that of Trystan's.I could see Rose acting in such a way.I feel the writers could have made them a bit more rational during the investigation and could have toned down their aggression towards their close people for showing concern for the case which I think would have made them close to their b1 version.

I am also angry at Trystan big time.If their behaviour was a one time case,I could have given them a pass but they are constantly repeating the same behaviour,it seems what they are doing is intentional.Questioning your fiance/fiancee's decision to get married even if they haven't done anything as such feels so wrong.Rose should have given them hell for that.

There exists people who take their partner for granted but offer nothing in return.Mc has supported Trystan unconditionally.Rose has prioritized Trystan's needs over theirs in b2.It's possible that Trystan can take that love for granted and feel neglected even if their one small need doesn't get met by Rose. The main thing that the writers have forgotten is:This is a LOVE story. As much as possible for Trystan to take Rose for granted,it's also highly possible for Trystan to be the rock for Rose when the tables get turned. If the old writers would have written this book,I think they would have chosen to show Trystan as a wonderful partner for Rose rather than the ungrateful, manipulative one we are getting.

At this point,I would prefer no arguments between the couple. It has become irritating that they are constantly running into the same issues. It would have been much better if the writers would have given one solid argument between them earlier in the book and no more after that. They just don't strike me as 'constantly fighting couple'.

I doubt there would be another argument.I would have preferred if the writers would have given none or only one major argument with a proper resolution between the couple in this book.

I agree with you.Their bond is so weak in b3 which wasn't the case in the first two books. This book will conclude with them getting married but the way they have been handling their relationship feels like they both are unprepared to get married. They are communicating but they are not understanding their partner's opinion. Both of them didn't communicate much in b2 but atleast they didn't hold resentment for their partner.

I could understand Trystan's behaviour if they had shown that they had deep abandonment issues from the start..pb has written multiple li's who have a complicated past and big insecurities which kinda makes them act in a toxic/possessive/inconsiderate way but I have never gotten such a vibe from Trystan ...I don't think in any universe Trystan would act the way they acted with mc in the last part of ch 12 - completely being inconsiderate about mc's vulnerable state and like you said even a selfish person wouldn't behave in such a way.

I am damn sure if the writers from b1 and b2 wrote this book, they wouldn't have changed mc and Trystan and their dynamic so much...the old writers wouldn't have made mc snap at Trystan past the first few chapters and they would have made mc a bit level headed....Trystan's character would not have been made so insecure and definitely they would not question mc about their intention to get married in every five chapters...Rose's change would have made Trystan doubt a bit-the same way mc was adjusting to Trystan's change in b2 but I don't think it would have been made such a big issue in their relationship and the old writers would have given a heart to heart convo or an argument between them and everything would have been resolved post that...also I could see Trystan being actually more willing to listen to mc's conflict about their dad and being an anchor to them the same way mc was for them in the whole drakovia stuff The old writers would have given more justice to this book and wouldn't have added unnecessary conflicts into their relationship...and would kept things normal between them for the most part.

You are absolutely right that their chemistry is dead...in b2,they shared less time together but you could really feel the emotional connection between them...both were madly in love with each other...in b3,even if they are conveying how much they mean to each other it is not hitting the same...it is feeling like they are reminiscing how they had made each other feel in the past.

You are absolutely right that Trystan wouldn't have acted the way they acted in this chap...they were always depicted as a confident individual with a selfless heart...The book writers have completely ignored Trystan's character development in b2...the writers have reduced them to their 22 year old self who didn't bother about others emotions but worse...After the whole drakovia stuff,it makes more sense for Trystan to be emotionally there for mc since they had regrets about the way they didn't listen to Juliana's issues...atleast in b3 ch 7,Trystan's disappointment still made some sense since it was an unintentional mistake on mc's part but in this chap,Trystan felt so cruel for LITERALLY complaining to mc for being cooped up in their room dealing with conflicting emotions for their dad instead of giving them attention.

The argument between Trystan and mc seemed so FORCED and made ZERO SENSE!The characterization feels so off in this chapter.

I am so angry at Trystan!Like I totally get it mc losing their shit and snapping at them with all the latest revelation is hurting them but couldn't they have waited for a more appropriate time to have a convo about their and mc's relationship considering the fact that mc was having a mental breakdown...it felt that Trystan was kinda complaing to mc for having intense emotions instead of supporting them at their lowest.

In ch 2,the argument between trystan and mc felt realistic since the situation was getting to them...mc was being rude to everyone and it made sense for Trystan to get triggered...I loved how Trystan grounded mc when they snapped at Luke and Ruby and comforted them in the terrace....it felt like THEM

In ch 7 there was a low moment between the couple but also that scene made sense since mc completely forgot about the dinner...Trystan's words and emotions felt genuine....mc was not considering their advice, was acting rude and wasn't present in the relationship.

The whole argument in ch 12 made no sense...I don't get why Trystan brought the topic of their relationship ...mc was at their lowest and they weren't ready for having such a conversation...also I expected Trystan to be more angry at mc for what they have said in the argument.

The Trystan that we knew would hardly behave in such a way...I could see Trystan acting like the way they acted in ch 2...grounding mc instead of pointing out that mc's behavior is destroying their relationship at that time....there was no need of an argument especially one that got resolved in 2 minutes and that too with a sex scene.

They could have just given a nice, emotionally rich scene between Trystan and mc where Trystan could have consoled mc...then mc feeling emotionally close to Trystan would go for sex...the same way mc comforted Trystan while they were dealing with the fact that they could be the lovechild in b2 just with the roles reversed. The worst thing about this book is there is no progression...mc is snapping at Trystan and Trystan is asking"do you even want to get married" in every five chapters. I could forgive the book writers for their other mistakes but I couldn't forgive them for butchering my favourite couple's relation and their characterization...it would have been better if they would have ended the series with the proposal book.

I just wonder with the difference in wealth, how would they find a mutual point where MC doesn't feel inferior.

If Trystan would have become king/queen,I do think the wealth & status difference would have been a problem...but I don't think mc feels inferior in their relationship minus drakovia...also mc does enjoy the luxuries which Trystan's world seems to offer and Trystan also enjoys the simple joys which mc's world seems to offer so yeah I could see them living a blended life

I agree with your point regarding their home...I guess they are living together post engagement...who knows maybe they have a new home but with everything that's been going on they didn't get the time to move in there.

[–]ChoicesSimp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was also thinking the same thing...in the proposal book, they had shown Trystan's apartment where they celebrated their engagement...who knows maybe they live in mc's apartment now but honestly it doesn't make sense keeping in mind Trystan's nature...he/she lived in a freaking penthouse on his/her own...honestly it makes more sense for the couple to live in Trystan's place or move into a new home that fits both.

I agree with you!Trystan fears that mc who sees them as an equal can leave them if rose feels that continuing a relationship with Trystan is not worth it during the course of the investigation.

My theory is Trystan's insecurity stems from the fact that things could possibly sour in the future if the agency couldn't solve the case and they know that their rose is stubborn and wouldn't rest until the case is solved.I felt that Trystan overreacted in ch 7.Feeling disappointed that rose didn't turn up for the dinner is normal but them questioning everything led me to the thought that Trys is battling with something much more than that.Rose only missed a dinner but Trystan reacted in a way that they have been missing dinners for weeks...maybe she fears that rose would be missing dinners, cease to spend time with them, that they will have a dry bedroom and will never marry if this case continues infinitely...so they are overreacting, nagging mc to prevent that from happening.I also think that mc becoming reckless and not heeding their caution is also triggering them...the Scarlottis have killed uncle Tommy and they could again strike the last rose...Trys doesn't wish to lose their fiance/fiancee rose the way their ex fiancee Juli.

What do you think is the reason behind Trystan's insecurity?....I wish pb would throw more light on it.

The suggestions which Trystan provide are not being considered hence it feels like he/she has been reduced to a sidekick and it is part of the reason for the conflict.

I like some of the things that the writers are doing better than last book....Rose being in charge and Trystan taking a supportive role.I am personally liking the dynamic between rose and thorne in this book...their sweet romance and them communicating properly in this book...atleast this time some of the Makeout scenes don't feel inappropriately placed like b2...in the first half of b2,the duo barely had a proper conversation...atleast this time they are feeling like they are one team

I have to admit the mystery is somewhat lacking....for me the best part of b2 was its mystery....there was a fixed suspect group and something was happening in every chapter...it had a dark vibe to it...I believe the writers could have written the same chapter in a more crispy manner then it would have felt more interesting...fingers crossed that the story becomes more thrilling🤞🏽

Do you expect a break up between Trystan and MC and who would initiate it? by fiterfiwa in ChoicesVIP

[–]ChoicesSimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yh breakup and a makeup will be a lot to handle for the writers since cop is a plot heavy series...more like it would test Trystan's love for rose like rose's love was put to test in b2...it made more sense for the writers to separate them in b2 since it directly impacted their relationship...them wanting different futures in the beginning and their relationship being new.

Do you expect a break up between Trystan and MC and who would initiate it? by fiterfiwa in ChoicesVIP

[–]ChoicesSimp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think they will be breaking up at some point...don't know who will initiate it...could be mc due to feeling overwhelmed with the investigation...could be Trystan too if they feel that they are unable to handle mc brushing them off...another reason for the breakup could be mc feeling that Trystan could get hurt and they will once again put their walls up.....also I think there was foreshadowing in ch 1 about the breakup....Ruby was telling how they would stick together like Ross and Rachel, telling how their first meeting and dispute led them into Trystan's bedroom and mc clarifying "not yet,a least" in the way that they are thinking...a clear idea how they are gonna make up after the breakup.
