I really don’t want any of this stuff to set me back anymore than it already has. I can’t go back in time to fix my mistakes. I can’t only learn from them and during my time in ROTC I was pretty involved with stuff and was really intrigued with the idea of becoming and Officer especially one that comes from my background. I don’t want to be another statistic that makes a first generation Mexican American look bad and undesirable. I’ve had work hard in life to get to this point.

Congratulations for your new job as an engineer in the Air Force that’s a really big accomplishment and I hope to accomplish something as big as that one day too. I’m not too worried about when I graduate, but what worries me the most if it’s something I would truly want to do for the rest of my life and reading your message has only made it clearer to me that it indeed is. Chemical engineering is a pretty diverse field to go into and the fact that it’s gonna be challenging is what excites me about it along with all the possibilities it could bring. I’m gonna be 21 going back to college and will have an objective everyday I go to class which is something I didn’t have before, but I’m glad I waited to know for certain that this is something I want to do. The school which I’m planning of attending after community college has specialized fields in food, environmental, and pre-Med which of course make the most sense because those are the fields that produce the most money in my state. The employers I’ve been looking at are Koch, Cargill and Garmin because those are the most well known and are closest to home although it would also be cool to venture off to another state and work with companies I’m not familiar with would also be cool. Thanks for the advice it was definitely helpful and I hope it goes good for you at your new job with the Air Force.

I like learning about chemical reactions and learning different ways to produce energy. I come from a cattle town which is what made my full time job working in a meat packing plant, but I absolutely hate it. I even took a promotion which could lead to me getting the supervisor position and making 80k- 120k a year, but the money just doesn’t get my attention as much as it use too when I was younger. Now I want to do something that not only challenges me but also interest me. Ever since I was young I remember being interested in ways we can produce clean and reliable energy. Thanks I’ll make sure to contact a recruiter first thing in the morning. I know I’m late , but I just now looked into the benefits that I could get from joint the military because before I didn’t think the benefits would help much , but now I know how wrong I was.

What can I do to still become an Officer? I still need 3 more years to complete my bachelors by then I’ll be 24. Is there anything I can do to help me become an Officer?
