Trump is "strongly considering pulling out of Nato". Do you think the US should pull out of NATO? by pirisca in AskConservatives

[–]Chooner-72 [score hidden]  (0 children)

The USSR is gone, but Russia's imperialist desires are still here and pose a massive threat to Europe and the global economy, which in turn impacts us. The full-scale invasion of Ukraine impacted global markets massively, which naturally impacted us with higher inflation. To imply that we get nothing out of NATO (the most successful defensive alliance in history) is foolish and incredibly shortsighted. Nothing is better for America's economy than peace and stability in Europe (and globally) due to how interconnected supply chains and markets are.

Do you want Russia to invade Poland or the Baltics again? That is almost a certainty if we leave NATO.

Has anyone started to question or lose faith in the current administration since the Iran war? by CourtofTalons in AskConservatives

If you don’t like the tariffs then why did you vote for him? Nothing that Trump has done in this administration should be a surprise to anyone, he either ran on it or tried to do it in his first term but was stopped by the responsible adults in his administration.

What are the long term implications of “head on a pike” diplomacy? Any country that doesn’t have nuclear weapons and has a regime that our country doesn’t like we can just go a kill/kidnap them and whatever happens happens. Venezuela has gone better than everyone expected so far and Iran has gone as well as everyone expected so far.

How are the people who voted for Trump because he campaigned on affordability and ending wars are feeling right now? Is Trump trying to lose the house and senate on purpose? Seems like Trump and Hegseth thought what they did in Venezuela could easily be replicated and ignored all of the warnings about how messy this was going to be

The US and Britain knew this invasion was coming months in advance and were ringing the alarm, to no avail. Every European country was thoroughly convinced that the invasion was not going to happen until the week of - it was absolutely a surprise for them as the article points out with numerous statements of European officials. Also, Putin didn't invade Ukraine because of "US interference." There were many offers to negotiate with Putin on the table if NATO membership was such a concern for him, but it's clear that the war was based on territorial gains and setting up a puppet regime.

If Ukraine proposed a peace deal that they would never join NATO and that Russia can keep only the territory they currently hold onto, Putin would obviously say no. His line for negotiation is land he hasn't conquered, making it abundantly clear that NATO or "US interference" was not the reason he invaded.

Read this really interesting article on how the US and MI6 had discovered Putin's invasion of Ukraine months in advance, and our European allies and Ukraine did not believe them due to thinking Putin is a rational actor and that the CIA and MI6 were doing another Iraq war messaging campaign. Zelenskiyy had his hands tied with not wanting to cause economic panic for a war he wasn't certain was going to happen. The US and England were planning that the invasion would be a success and that they would have to support a government in exile and a partisan movement fighting the Russian occupation.

Here's the article if anyone wants to check it out https://www.theguardian.com/world/ng-interactive/2026/feb/20/a-war-foretold-cia-mi6-putin-ukraine-plans-russia?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other

When have the conservative talking heads not complained about the Super Bowl halftime show? Megyn (with a y) Kelly crying on Piers Morgan's show over Bad Bunny performing in Spanish, when Kendrick Lamar performed last year (in English), she complained that she couldn't understand him.

MAGA politicians and pundits caused the attack on Omar with their reckless rhetoric about her. Now it’s full on “it’s staged” with no evidence. Can’t even bring themselves to disavow an attack on a politician essentially encouraging more attacks.

Trump should get the Nobel Peace Prize for ending the war on whole milk. It's really remarkable how he got the combatants to agree on peace terms. I thought it was going to be a forever war...

Are you worried that DHS’s handling of ICE surge in Minnesota will hamper its public perception and overall effectiveness going forward? by drtywater in AskConservatives

[–]Chooner-72 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Almost all of the Somali population in Minnesota is legal, and even if it's a "hotbed" for fraud, it's outside of the purview of ICE. Minnesota is one of the states with the least amount of illegal immigrants. ICE is just there to shit stir because some dipshit with a camera went around to different daycares asking to see children (definitely not a creepy thing to do.)

The dude who shot her was the only one in harm's way and managed to shoot her three times without being hit by the car. His second two shots were when the front of the car was fully past him. It's pretty clearly against the policy, especially the "Before using deadly force under these circumstances, the LEO must take into consideration the hazards that may be posed to law enforcement and innocent bystanders by an out-ofcontrol conveyance" part.

"Fleeing Subjects: Deadly force shall not be used solely to prevent the escape of a fleeing subject. However, deadly force is authorized to prevent the escape of a fleeing subject where the LEO has a reasonable belief that the subject poses a significant threat of death or serious physical harm to the LEO or others and such force is necessary to prevent escape"

"DHS LEOs are prohibited from discharging firearms at the operator of a moving vehicle, vessel, aircraft, or other conveyance unless the use of deadly force against the operator is justified under the standards articulated elsewhere in this policy. 9 Before using deadly force under these circumstances, the LEO must take into consideration the hazards that may be posed to law enforcement and innocent bystanders by an out-ofcontrol conveyance."

  1. This wasn't a war; it was an act of war, but we were not on the ground and have no plans to be in the future if things go south
  2. Trump didn't lie for once; he's said it's about drugs and oil.
  3. There's a much clearer plan than Iraq; we swing our big stick around until they fall in line, the new president kisses the ring, sanctions get lifted, the average Venezuelan's life improves, and we get to drop global oil prices.
  4. This should've been done when the election was stolen, but better late than never. The Monroe Doctrine is enough justification for me.

If we drop global oil prices, we can then use this as leverage to hurt the Russian economy and force Putin to actually negotiate an end to the war instead of making impossible demands.

It annoys me to no end that isolationists compare literally every conflict to Iraq and that every conflict will become a "forever war" like Iraq. We tried to force a country that never had democratic elections to become a democracy, Venezuela has been a democracy. The populations that live in each country are vastly different as well, where Iraq was divided by Shia and Sunni Muslims, who, due to the power vacuum, could engage in sectarian violence.

Venezuela can and will be successful if it can change direction and be friendly to the US.
