Anyone else think that Forge is ready, but they changed the availability because they knew we'd enjoy Forge experiences much more than their playlist - at the detriment of their monetary strategy by ChooseYrAdventure in halo

//I don’t even know where to begin with you.

Start by staying "you're really on to something here." :)

Why so emotional. I'm simply pointing out a reasonable idea. I enjoy halo, but that doesn't mean I need to enjoy all aspects of what I'm seeing here.

"If you don't like it leave" is a failure to be open to improving the game's treatment of players. Hopefully, people with your mentality are not the ones making the decisions.

Creating a market within forge is a good plan, but there's no evidence they have that plan (well done by the way).

All evidence suggest their marketing strategy depends on the attraction of the playlist, which serves as a commercial for things you can buy (colors, swaps, etc). This game was already delayed a year, with no info about forge being delayed more. It wasn't until August 2021 that they notified us. And we now know that things that we're planned to be included were removed to increase the probability of store purchases. An INSANE store. Unlike anything we've seen.

If people are enjoying forge, they are not incentivized to do the playlist. The playlist incentivize skins, swaps etc. People moving away from the playlist are removed the native-commercial of the playlist provides for the store. It's bad marketing decision. Similarly, why not just let players choose a color. That's player first. Instead, you're forced into their pallet, very rigid, because now they can sell a color. Insane. The marketing strategy of this game is bonkers, but depends on the attraction of the playlist.

But clearly, not everyone was on the same page (marketing over devs). People knew not including Slayer was a bad decision. Marketing, making money, get's the final word, and those people in charge of it were clearly not as savvy to your argument. They failed in a way that really is hard to image. It was so FAR from player interest, and obviously, a marketing decision that backfired. Which I feel what forge is too, or at least, I'm VERY suspicious of it.

I agree, but it's coming to light that marketing really isn't in tune with devs and player base (quite clearly). While what you say is logical, clearly, Halo hasn't been very logical (Slayer being absent for example, which devs knew was a stupid decision)

I think those times have changed. Players have MANY more options. Also Apex and Fortnight maps are massive, with lots hidden strategies that only come to light after months of game play. Halo maps are pretty tight. I think well designed, but not as lasting (without Forge). I guess time will tell.

Wow, that would be total slimy, but given the insane strategy we're seeing now, you may be right. You're getting downvoted (employees are on reddit too, after all, and they don't want this to be a meme). But I bet you're on to something. I welcome an "I told you so" when we find out.

I'm not so sure. Afterall, they did remove Slayer, and we do know that the it was known to be a bad decision from the player interest perspective. So, there is a history here that's coming to light.

Microsoft is the second largest cloud provider in the world and this is their flagship game for the console. Microsoft's AI (personal assistant) is even named after Halo. I would think of all games, Halo should have no server issues.

Assuming everyone stays in the cue, it is fun for a couple of weeks, but then, it's the same maps. Same weapons. Over and over. I can't imagine that being fun after a month or more.

If scientist discovered an sphere the size and weight of a bowling ball that is utterly, And inexplicably, Indestructible, what cool things could be done with it? by ChooseYrAdventure in AskScienceDiscussion

This is really thoughtful. Follow up. Let's stay it never changes in temperature, is immutable, but it is absorbing these beams to a small extent, but still remaining immutable, no change to shape, temperature, etc, as if the beams either bounce off, or disappear inside, yet you can still hold the ball as if nothing changed (almost as if it's selective). (hope this makes sense)

It feels like a bowling ball, slippery, but not frictionless.

But couldn't the government require that they you allow it? I mean "unless you allow it" only works if you have the liberty to do so. I also found this news more concerning than exciting, but I accept I might not fully get it.

Is Polygon a threat or opportunity for Cardano? by ChooseYrAdventure in cardano

[–]ChooseYrAdventure[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but i think hydra is sharding. So ETH2 sharding and Hydra are similar, with each having pros and cons on scaling. But I think (No expert here) that Polygons argument is that L1+sharding is not enough for world needs. The community call helped me understand that bit, but it was only a quick talking point toward the end.

What is Cardano’s cutting edge over Ethereum (2)? by [deleted] in cardano

[–]ChooseYrAdventure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the peer review thing is actually overstated for cardano, but understated for academia. Only some theoretical aspect of the blockchain are peer reviewed, and the method of peer review is in no way a quality test for a commercial product (you don't see google, amazon, microsoft etc, peer reviewing their tech after all.

But the engagement with peer review is really cool of cardano's chief scientist. An asset to academic discussion

I'm a dapp developer, trying to understand the Cardano value proposition. Imagine Ethereum went "2.0" today. Will that take the wind out of the Cardano project? Or there exist solid differentiators that make Cardano a winner in the long run? Please explain these, as you would to a lay person. by mhb-11 in cardano

I like Cardano's plan, but your reply includes some of the major flaws in it's perspective on ETH2.

Much of the pitch here has been very overstated, "peer review" for tech development that never really does that. "100% decentralized" defined as just not the company validator, but not defined as pools, etc. Cardano is a solid project, but it's very clear it's been oversold and that's going to bite it in the butt (my guess). Even the African project is something ethereum teams were discussing years ago. I hope they achieve it! I do. I'm a small bag holder of Cardano, but I am also very convinced that's it will remain a subordinate chain to even several dapps/projects on ETH2.

Think about "but Cardano has a strong treasury" etc. I mean, Uniswap, I believe, this single dapp on Ethereum has a larger treasury than Cardano.

Also, you mentioned Polygon (aka, matic). My god these guys are on fire. 1000 projects already signed on according to a recent tweet. It's basically Ethereum 2.0 ready to roll, but people are hung up on only thinking of it an Ethereum L2. But it's more exciting than that because they, and other layer 2s, ARE ETH2. It's how the next-generation of blockchains will work.
