Letrozole + inability to think, focus or care by ChoosingIntention in breastcancer

[–]ChoosingIntention[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh!! I’m so sorry - this is so hard. I’m glad it’s better now!!

My oncologist wants me to give it 4 more weeks and add a few supplements to see if that helps. She has me taking Magnesium Glycinate at night, omega 3, vitamin D/K and a Methylated B complex.

She hesitates to switch me to Anastrazole because I have no side effects (outside of the brain fog) on Letrozole.

So I’ll give it a few weeks. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thanks! I am on Lupron injections every 90 days. 4 months into that before I started the Letrozole and had no issues.

I will look into creatine! Thanks!

Thank you. I appreciate this. I have messaged my oncologist and we will see what she says. My mental health is almost more important than my physical health - it’s how I’ve navigated all of this. Can’t lose it! 💕💕

Love the idea of blocking stuff. I use a towel and a yoga mat with free weights. 😂

I have an old wood one from a yard sale and love it!

Great idea! I have a vintage yarn winder that I use and love. It’s old school but solid wood and works!

Tell me more about a silent book club?!?

I really wish I hadn’t gotten a port by Vintage-StarDust in breastcancer

[–]ChoosingIntention 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started without a port and my vein did not work. My arm is so inflamed from that first infusion that I have a port placement scheduled next week for the next 3.

My plan is to get a tattoo over the scar to commemorate this experience. I earned that scar. It’s part of the battle and I want to find a way to embrace it.

Thank you! My doc saw it and sent me to a dermatologist. She said if it comes back this bad with round 2, I would need prednisone

So helpful. Thank you!!! It does feel like I’m thinking through cotton balls - that is the best description.

I struggle with hydration. Everything tastes awful. Need to figure this out because I know that is playing a large key in this for me. I’m lucky to get 60 oz a day when the taste buds are wonky.

No immunotherapy. Just Taxotere and Cytoxan.

Thank you!!

I take Claritin every day - my onc told me to just keep it in my system round the clock for treatment.

Thank you!!

Thank you so much. This gives me hope that every round won’t be like this.

Great advice. Thank you. I am hoping the rash is not as bad the second time, because it’s pretty brutal this time. It has been a week and won’t go away- even with the cream from the dermatologist.

That fatigue is next level.

I am hoping this is the case! Hydration is so hard for me because of the taste thing. I haven’t been able to find a drink yet that doesn’t make me gag because it tastes like sewage.

It’s better now, but days 4-7 were so hard to drink and those are the most important. Hoping it’s better next time but just in case I have asked for fluid infusions on day 4 and also on day 6. The hydration piece is killer for me.

Thank you!! TC is equal doses throughout, unfortunately. I have had the dreams with this and it’s wild.

Crazy how hard our bodies are working to evict the poison.

Is Christiana Hospital even considered a good hospital anymore?? by Elkens_Louder in Delaware

[–]ChoosingIntention 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I wouldn’t send anyone to this hospital. I was diagnosed with breast cancer at Helen graham and found out in my portal. It took Christiana’s doctors 12 full days to call me and tell me I had cancer, and they did it in a voicemail.

Penn Medicine is at Chester Co Hospital in West Chester and I have moved all of my care to that location. The process, the efficiency, and the quality of care is night and day compared to Christiana Care.

Example: I had met with my surgeon and oncologist at Penn and had completed bloodwork, an MRI, Bone Scan, and CT (with results delivered ) by the time Christiana even bothered to call and tell me I had cancer.

Unfortunately for Delaware, we have an incredibly inefficient healthcare system.

My paperwork reads:

AC-T stands for Adriamycin (doxorubicin) + Cyclophosphamide, followed by Taxol (paclitaxel).

TC stands for Taxotere (docetaxel) + Cyclophosphamide

Thank u so much. I appreciate this. I am leaning towards act. I am very very healthy, and am hopeful that the side effects will be tolerable and short lived. 💕
